God no. I think the only people who visit really are cruise ships and also MOD employees/contractors. It is accessible though via Chilie or MOD flights (open to civvies) via Ascension Island. From my understanding there's only really 300 or so 'natives' and the rest of the population is largely the MOD workers mentioned above and other BOT (British Overseas Territories) workers there to service them.. It seems pretty bleak tbqh. I think even before the oil etc, was found, the main thing that keeps us hanging onto them (and the Argies after them) is just sore national pride after the war.
I find St Helena the most interesting of the BOT. It's an island that used to be really important as ships stopped off there on the way to India (or around Africa) before Suez. Ever since Suez was built, the island was basically forgotten about. The islands population is around 4000 and the people there are a generic shade of 'brown' being left to their own devices after several hundred years - originally consisted of Indians/Chinese/Europeans and other people - which have kind of merged. They've just built an airport though (previously only way to get there was a weeks sail from Ascension Island or South Africa. Bit of a random tangent but I find it quite interesting..
There's also Tristan D Cunha -- where over half of the population of 300-odd have ashma (inbreeding) and 7 surnames on the island, lol. And also Pitcairn which is the descendants of the HMS Bounty mutineers and their captured women. lol. Now more well known for the rape convictions (which is what made me look up these places.)
tl:dr the only reason the sun doesn't set on the British Empire is because of some god forsaken shitholes that I think the majority of the UK either know nothing about, or would get rid of in a flash.

To be honest I didn't even know that they had oil in the Falklands. Do you think in another conflict with the Argentinians that the UK would just give them up? You would think that they still have some military applications though. These islands seem pretty under utilized.

Yeah there is a ferry company called Buquebus which crosses the river in about 1-3 hours, IIRC there are 35 different ships. Also there are 3 bridges but these are not close to the capital cities
