So, I was watching the news today, and it came to my attention that the National Front won the regional elections. Looks like a big step towards something different. What do you guys think? Is this a good thing for the french people? Let me know where you stand.
>>
frenchies?

I think you know where we stand.
>>
>>51802200
You're not french.
>>
It means fuck all because their entire electoral system is designed to keep FN out. They can win this round then next week everyone else can just switch their votes to someone else.

I would love to see FN win in France and lynch all the leftists, Muslims and faggots but there's as much chance of that happening as you getting a girlfriend.
>>
>>51802274
It is designed for having only 2 major parties. FN is now the most important one.

>>51802251

Ah... So, you don't like the gays? Because I'm gay.

Nope.
>>
>>51803195
And why is that?
>>
Our newspaper calls the FN a bunch of xenophobes and antieuropean nazis.

How much of this is true?
>>
>>51800653
>National Front won the regional elections
regional electin is irrelevant.
Less than 20% of the population voted yesterday. I voted for nobody (I don't know how you call it in english, in french, we say "white vote" (yeah I know white like our flag ebin maymay))
>>

Same shit up here.

You couldn't be more wrong. The regional elections are just like the European Elections in two senses:
>FN surpassed all expectations
>Nobody gives a fuck
Look at the voting numbers for the regional elections and you'll see that 50% of voters abstained, comparable numbers to European elections. That's because nobody fucking knows what these people do so only the most fanatical (read: FN voters) will give half a damn.

The only thing that matters to the French (and many other Europeans with a comparable state structure, like the Dutch) are municipal elections and most importantly national elections

The only thing these elections have proven is that the French Socialists are on death's door. Sarkozy's refusal to cooperate with them against FN only drives this point even further home. What does this mean? Let me spell it out for you:

>Disappointed Socialists will be forced to choose between Sarkozy and Le Pen, they will vote for Sarkozy
>Most of those who abstained for the regional elections will vote in the national elections. Again, they are forced to choose between the failed socialist, the "extreme right" and the moderate right. They will vote Sarkozy.
>Sarkozy will become France's new president
>Meet new boss, same as old boss

FN will become a significant presence in the Senate, but even there people will be very hesitant to cooperate with them (same in the Netherlands with the PVV, it should technically have been part of the government but everybody simply refused to cooperate with them).

FN isn't a normal party, it's an """extreme right'"" party. Where other parties consider 20% of votes a smashing victory, FN needs at least 50% + 1 to matter. They'll never get that.
>>
>>51802274
Gays are literally no problem anywhere. Flaming faggots may be annoying if you spend too much time searching for them on social networks but they barely do anything harmful.
>>
>>51803968
I don't know. I'm not sure what nazis are supposed to look like. I just know what they think.

>>51804181
Oh, European democracy. Wonderful. Also, are they really "extreme"?

They're anti-immigration patriots with heavy nostalgia for the time when France was great. By European standards they're neo-nazi's, by US standards they're moderate Republicans.

Didn't expect this from a Russian. And, well, I kinda have to disagree. This is a photo of what some homosexuals do on pride parades. It is definetely a problem.

Charles De Gaulle was far more "extreme".
>>
Unlike most voters, FN supporters feel represented and thus vote on the first round. It's been several elections now the FN has won the first round, but it's unlikely they'll get more than 2 or 3 regions (out of 13) next week. That's already a lot though
>>
>>51804463
Russians don't really give fucks about gay people at all.
>>
>>51804739
We're not in the same page here, are we?
Let's clear this up: When you say antieuropean,
do you mean anti-EU or antiwest?

>>51804786
Well, godspeed then.

>>51804792
Yeah, whatever.
>>
>>51804463
>This is a photo of what some homosexuals do on pride parades. It is definetely a problem.
It's illegal in most countries, so it's a police job to prevent such things. I don't think all agy parades are like that.
>>
They have a really really stupid program. Their economic plans are truly laughable.
>>
Crashing the EU's financial ties is not the solution

its crashing the EU's authority to tell other EU nations what to do that is the solution
>>
>>51804851
Anti-european in european politics always means anti-EU
>>
>>51804852
It's illegal here too. But no officer would dare arresting any of these individuals. It's a career-killer. And, well, sure, the pride parade in Sweden, organized by the kekservatives was probably nice, if it wasn't for the somalis screaming "bögar" all the time.

>>51804927
You'd have to crash the whole thing. The EU was created to subjugate europe, and get rid of that pesky sovereignty.

>>51804936
Okay, great.

>Charles De Gaulle was far more "extreme".
The entire country pretends to love him. He was voted the Greatest Frenchman and there isn't a Frenchman with more streets, ships etc. named after him than De Gaulle. Yet quoting him makes you a nazi.

The French don't consider him a hero, they consider him a name to drop in false patriotism.
>>
>>51805245
>The French don't consider him a hero, they consider him a name to drop in false patriotism.
He's really considered a hero. However, what his ideology truly means is concealed.

Worse, people defending ideas that are literally the opposite of De Gaulle's doctrine are calling themselves "gaullists" (ie: Sarkozy) and hardly anyone is complaining.
>>
Voted FN yesterday, felt ok I guess
>>
>>51800653
I think it's terrible, and if they win in the presidential elections in 2017 I am going to fuck right off.
>>
>>51806001
Why?
>>
>>51806025
Taking even a single look at what the FN offers in terms of economical measures is simply mindboggling.

I have seen an interview of Phillipot literally claiming "We will go back to the Franc, but in order to stay competitive we will make so 1 Franc = 1 Euro"

That alone should speak for itself
>>
>>51806130
And who would you rather have running france?
>>
>>51806349
Literally anyone else. I don't think there's much of a difference between PS and LR at this point.

France is becoming fascist, I guess. Not surprising, terror attacks have ways of making people lose their sensibilities with anger/prejudice

Even the swiss had to stop doing it and the danes are having a lot of trouble
Those countries are in much better economical shape than you

>>
>>51800653
FN already wins every 1st turn of every election that's nothing new
At least FN gets 5% more every time so eventually it'll win. Good. Don't hope for too much though.
>>
>>51800653
It is a significant step since the new region have a bit more powers, and it's of course a strong symbolic victory.

But overall it's indeed just a step and won't change much. The important thing if they win will be that they will now have all the elements to provide them the only victory that matters: The presidential election. And you can't win that one without at least a small network of locals representatives.
