On a scale of 1 to 10,000, how fucked is this island?
5,000
depends on Congress
if they decide to bail you out or even make you the 51st state at some point, you're ok
if not, you're fucked
just swim here

But really, how much support would the US government provide if we were a state? Look at how little support they provided to Detroit. That's what we are. One big Detroit.

Detroit is one city. A significant amount of manpower and resources would be spent on Cuba if it was an entire state.
cuba is a good country tbqh
>>51765636
Right, but then again, why would the USA want us? We're just a small island with high crime rates, low economy and a TON of debt. And besides, 50 is such a good number.
>>51765878
The Democrats think you'll vote for them.
Incidentally, this is why the Republicans don't want you.
If you do get in, you'll have two senators, a representative, and three votes in the electoral collage, and that's usually enough to score you some pork barrel spending.
>>51765931
>a representative
>three votes in the electoral college
They would get 16 representatives and 18 votes in the electoral college.
>>51766183
For some reason my brain was stuck on the minimum numbers that like Wyoming and North Dakota get.
But yeah, you get as many votes in the Senate as California does. You can almost certainly finagle some infrastructure spending and welfare monies your way.
I think we'll have to annex Canada or Mexico if Puerto Rico joins, so we can get to an even number of provinces.
Where would the 51st star go, anyway?
Pretty fucked desu. And things won't improve soon, with the elections coming up here and in the US and the shitfest that such a year carries.

Congress is not motivated to clear our status problem. They will look for any excuse, or ignore completely, as long as they can.
>>51766362
Up your butt
>>51766603
Rude
>>51766362
Michigan or circle looks best imo
>>51766603
Congress isn't motivated to clear up the status problem because PR isn't motivated to do so.
Even in the last election, which some interpreted as a mandate for an actual statehood vote, was immediately followed with complaints about how it just a plurality, the question was confusing, and people support the status quo. Congress can't make any move without either the pro-statehood or anti-statehood lobbies getting upset.
There is, indeed, ONE republican that wants us.
>>51766771
Actually Bush and Rubio have both taken the same stance. Carson just has a better shot of actually getting elected.
>>51766741
Yeah, circle looks badass.
>>51766836
>Carson has a better shot at actually getting elected than Rubio
Cruz has overtaken him and Rubio most likely will soon
>>51765701
This isn't Cuba.
>>51765256
Have any governor have been assassinated in the last 500 years?
>>51766991
I don't think so. And frankly, if one hasn't been assassinated in the last 10 years, I'm not interested.
>>51765931
>The Democrats think you'll vote for them.
Aren't Puerto Ricans in the same boat as Mexicans? They're overall fairly conservative, but they mostly just vote blue so that people from their cunt could immigrate.
So wouldn't they vote red if we annexed them?
>>51766991
Oh wait, there were the Indian caciques, but they don't count. You should know. You're also Puerto Rican.
>>51766836
lol are you serious? Carson is as electable as Ron Paul was
>>51767201
>Indian caciques
That would be like killing a mayor.
>>51767267
Yeah, but they're not related to today's shitty governors.
>>51767267
Besides, they only controlled small indigenous villages.
