they're part of a different subculture that is alien to most white people, so we are sometimes surprised and enthralled with the bizarre, harsh, and often just plain unfortunate things they have to put up with (which may account for their sometimes lowered inhibitions when it comes to taboo topics) . They're also outsiders to mainstream white society, which lets them detached and wry observations about it.
Thought I had more of these. Oh well.
