A 3 way between Nationalists, Local Baltic Germans and Reich Supporters and communists including some of our best Riflemen.
Commies started with the upper hand, but were pushed back by the initial united German/Latvian charge and became irreverent after many riflemen went over to Latvian Army proper and the top dog communists retreated into Russia.
Afterwards, Germans intended creating the United Baltic Dutchy, and to achieve it, allied with Bermond, a Russian Royalist warlord.
Under the guise of "returning to Russia to create order", his army was to march through Riga.
Latvians called their bluff, and fighting ensued, which culminated on 11th of November, 1919, when Bermonds forces were defeated at Riga, securing Latvian dominance
Then the communist remnant was finished off.
At different parts of the war, Estonian, Lithuanian and Pole help was invaluable.
The kick is that Bermond initially was planning on taking the fight to the Reds, but, probably was convinced by Germans to focus and attack Riga, were he got rekt. So there is a chance he might have saved Russia from Communism.

I haven't read up enough on the Spanish Civil War, and I don't know enough about Spanish politics at the time to know about how the people felt. And most books or documentaries I've seen on it are very biased towards the Republican side.
But on the Republican side you have the very young and shaky Republic, led by a even more shaky coalition of Socialists, USSR backed Stalinist Communists, Independent Troskyist Communists, and some anarchists. And Catalan and Basque nationalists.
On the other side, you have two rival Monarchists factions, Anti-Marxist Conservatives, Fascists, and the Catholic Church.
So if you were an average Spanish Catholic peasant (and Spain was a very agricultural country), attached to your land and your faith, thinking that maybe the King wasn't so bad after all, and maybe you care about stuff like the unity of Spain, but above all what you want is safety and order, I think the Nationalist side is the one you would support, right ?

The fascists justified the war by saying they wanted to save Spain from the communists. In the last elections of the Republic the communists had 17 seats in the parliament out of more than 340. Do you think there was a danger they would rise to power? The Spanish civil war was just an excuse for the Army and the rich/noble families to get the power back in Spain. After the country had become a democracy and education was widely available to the population, they couldn't keep getting rich from the poor peasant population so they purged Spain from democratic or socialist ideas.
