I used to work with tourists British are definitely the worst. Never had any problems with the French, didn't interact with many others on the worst list where I worked. Germans definitely don't belong on second best, they were one of the most rude groups I worked with. I would't put Americans on best either, they weren't generally bad but a lot of other groups are generally easier to work with/less obnoxious. Japs and Swedes are very good tourists, only met a few Swiss but they were all polite as well. I would agree with Japan #1 because they were not only the most polite but they were generally very organized and had money when they needed it, went to the correct places in line etc.

"Best" tourists really depends on what attractions you have nearby. I live near a national park that attracts tons of tourists each year, but parks attract a different type of tourist than disneyland or a city with a huge clubbing scene.
