I feel like what makes English "hard" is that it gets really complicated after a while. It's probably easy to get a basic proficiency, but there are so many words that have similar but different meanings. Uninterested vs. disinterested, or the difference between interested, uninterested, and not uninterested. It gets harder the deeper you go, and it can be very precise.

Due to the fact that English is an amalgamation of 3 or 4 different languages it has one of the richest and largest vocabularly's on earth, euro jfs on here like to pretend it's easy (but that's onl;y because they have been learbning it since they were 5) but for most of them their vocab will only be good enough to get by on a basic level.
