I feel like if my country were smaller somehow and less relevant I would like it a lot more, a sense of togetherness is made like that I think. We're so big and we've gotten so many immigrants through the years whatever culture America had at the start is kinda wiped away. We're not like you euros with individual countries having their own unique languages, you all are kinda tied to very old cultures; I think that would give a bigger sense of national pride than Americans. So I don't know why Americans are so jingoistic and are stereotypically nationalistic.
I also don't think I would particularly need to fight for my country. Nowadays we only get into stupid petty wars. It's always claimed that it's for defence and freedom and blah blah, but seriously the idea of a full scale invasion or even anything similar against us is ridiculous. I mean, if that were to happen I think I would fight beculause I'm kind of depressed and it would give me an excuse to have a unique life experience before death.
Still though I do want military experience. I don't see my path in life having any but I just feel inadequate without it. Oh well.
