Since our massive societal shift to the left in the early 70s, we're guilt indoctrinated since kindergarten. Showing any pride in being german or interest in german history before WW2 is kinda frowned upon by society. I think most germans feel repressed that they have to hide their pride and national identity and they take every opportunity (like the football/soccer world championships) that allows them to overcome the self-made boundaries without looking as a racist nazi.
However, where the typical Hans (we germans call the typical german deutscher Michel btw) now experiments with how far his new found national pride can go, the indoctrination seems more an more effective. Today's youth seems even more cultural suicidal than the hippies in the 70s that introduced this system were.

You can't say what you want, you pay insane taxes while your real income stays low, you finance your own death. People are boring and booksmart, but real intelligence is rare (I believe I'm not better than the booksmart people though). Our culture is dying the women are ugly for the most parts.
