I saved that image (along with many other variants) quite a while ago, I don't remember the small details about it.
>>
>>51038329
Most of them are at least related to some historic event or stereotype but the Hussar is just wrong in that sense.
Poland was never violent against protestants and even took protestant refugees from other European countries
>>
>>51038600
>Poland was never violent against protestants
poland is hardcore catholic to the point that its almost comical
>>
>>51038954
Not when Hussars were around or am I missing the point?
>>
>>51038993
when hussars, atleast the "winged" ones were a thing there was no protestantism yet

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_hussars
>were one of the main types of the cavalry in the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland between the 16th and 18th centuries.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protestant_Reformation#Polish_.E2.80.93_Lithuanian_Commonwealth
>Reformation reached Poland in the 1520s

more
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counter-Reformation_in_Poland
>Counter-reformation in Poland refers to the response (Counter-Reformation) of Catholic Church in Poland (more precisely, the Kingdom of Poland until 1568
Also states that not much violence was involved although they did try to counter it

I'm not an expert and wikipedia might not be the best source but whatever

oh shiiiiiit
>>
>>51039239
The opposite actually, the original - medieval - hussars served as light cavalary and the winged ones served as heavy cavalary and were prominent since around late 16th century. Since poland at the time fought mostly with protestant sweden, orthodox russia and zaphorozhie and islamic ottoman empire, you could argue that they were acting as sort of a defense of catholic faith.
>>
>le meme hunter
>>
>>51039759
but whats the point of the heavy amor than?
i mean gunpowder made amor obsolent and most nations switched to uhlans and stuff for shock cavalary
>>
>>51039959
When reloading was slow and guns were inaccurate, armor was still very valuable.
>>
>>51037444
fug :DD

thats's the best one to be honest family
>>
>>51040020
sure, thats what cuirassiers are for
but whats the point of full plate amor
>>
>>51039959

>>51040020
What this guy said basically. When being charged at by heavy cavalary you'd need dependable rifles or artillery support to thin their ranks before they got to you.
>>
>>51040187
They served different purpose i guess. With cuirassier you've got a guy on a horse with a gun who didnt really charge into infantry hiding behind pikes. Later, when pikes grew out of use due to artillery being more accurate they adopted swords and served as highly mobile pain train suited to fight infantry whose melee capabilites were limited to rifle with a bayonet. Hussars were armored so heavily because they were charging at infantry standing in a place and hiding behind pikes and halaberds. And after they did the charge they would just back up and charge again until there were nobody left to stampede. They didnt really engage in prolongued melee like cuirassiers more or less did.
