unless you live somewhere hot and tropical, but even then your probably fine if you cook the shit out of it
some bacteria and fungi will produce toxins as secondary metabolites which won't cook out and could still make you sick. Or you could get a bacteria that can encyst and survive cooking under some conditions
I just boiled jasmin rice and ate with chicken
its totally fine no onions involved
