Playlist with 23 songs talking about the building of Constantinople and/or its Fall. (they are really old, from the time the Byzantine Empire fell)

Another playlist with traditional songs found all over the Old Greece (from Pontus to Epirus) which are from the times the Byzantine Empire still existed.
It talks about a certain castle (might as well be imaginary) that Fell to the Turks after a dozen-year siege.

Another collection of traditional songs from all over the Old Greece which talk about the same thing.

They talk about a human sacrifice of a woman that the river demanded so that a bridge would be build.

I was just searching for folk-y images found this one, I liked it, and I picked it tbh.

After some search though, I believe that I found the original source of the picture:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/sukanto_debnath/747654439/in/set-72157600250635002

It says that it was taken at Hyderabad.

This is a prison song from the early 1900's but clearly rooted firmly in the negro spirituals of the south

The first is a song about the frustrations that arose after white men raped and killed a black woman whom they loved but were powerless to protect.

Negro Prison Songs / "Black Woman-Murder's Home-Jumpin'Judy": http://youtu.be/FZs45oL_n8k

This is the sound that made Blues, an entire genre focused on the suffering of blacks.

It spawned swing, jazz, Rock and roll and every other genre of black music from Disco to House and Hip Hop.

The saddest thing that I've found about American music and American music history and roots is the implications made that black americans are the sole creators and influencers of music genres
American music is influenced by so many different Euro and English folk musics it's not even funny

Black Americans or poor hillybilly whites, the bigger implications is that all of the roots of music grew out of the poorest or most oppressed groups in the country.

Stating the basis of American Music is in African American communities does not in anyway negate European influences.

It's quite clear that Gaelic music was a major influence, however it's still a black sound. Just as every African American has European ancestry, they are still black.

I would deny that entirely in fact
I'd say american music is simply the trading of culture back and forth between poor euros and poor blacks
Similar to how anime and cartoons have traded back and forth to the point that it's almost laughable to imply that one would exist without the other (in the modern sense)
>>
>>38090421
Mostly yes, the first one for example is about a South German military and Landsknecht leader in the service of the Imperial House of Habsburg.

The third one is a pretty evil song that describes the German army in Flanders as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

But we have some happy stuff about life and all that stuff aswell.

The 'modern folk music' of today is called "Schlager" and it's not really my thing, but there is a popular song about Greek wine:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55HcPt_pcGc

>>
>>38090830
You say that but I definitely see people complaining about how it's "their" music implying to an absurd level that every genre is black except for classical
Fuck I'd imagine most would imply that they created folk music as well

Define black sound
What makes it a black sound?
Does it become a white sound when a white person evolves it into a different sound?
>>

I believe yes. Also, "cati steali" which is the song's name means something like "as many stars" afaik.
I can't find the full lyrics though :/
>>
>>38091095
Disagree. We can see the basis of most forms of European music being completely devoid of the songs coin in America. Blacks were a critical part in creating the various genres we hear from the 1920's to today.
>>38091359
It's true though, look at old timey music found in England -doesn't sound like blues-

Even Appalachian music was influenced by black sound, the banjo being most obvious but also the range and arrangement of voice.

Black (American) sound merely is; it was found no were else in both sides of the atlantic. There is distinctiveness to it based in large part to the loss of all forms of African musical tradition save for "Ring Shouts".

Other Caribbean and Latin American groups have influences from Nigeria to Angola, those have not been retained in America by the time of the civil war except in Africatown down in Alabama but only into the early 20th century.
>>
>>38091777
You have not answered my question
Black music is such a vague term that it can literally be applied to every form of music that has had any prominent black figure in it

You also haven't answered if this process is reversable only stating that it is
So it's always and forever black despite the heavy influence from folk?

Also I don't see very diversity of music in the blacks south of the border which leads me to believe that it's way more than simple blackness

Honestly "black music" seems to me to be just a thing that blacks cling to in this country because they have little history

Actually, I found a video with the song that includes the lyrics in the Latin alphabet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeqUVnf2EKM [Embed]
I 'll translate the Greek translation of the video:

Cati steali suntu n'tseru, luna moi luna amea
Noaptea ardu shi dzua cheru, luna moi luna amea
Dzua cheru shi noaptea ardu, luna moi luna amea
N'mutreascu doilji la gardu, luna moi luna amea
Ochlji atalji ca doau steali, luna moi luna amea
Sunt mirachi mearchlji ameali, luna moi luna amea
Lutseatsir ameu le le ascumtu, luna moi luna mea
Tu bana nji tuta moi ni'spusu, luna moi luna mea

How many stars are in the sky, my moon, oh my moon
They burn in the night, and they vanish in the day, moon, oh my moon
The vanish in the day, they burn in the night, ...
We were seeing each other in the garden, ...
Your eyes are like two stars, ...
It is desire, oh my desire, ...
The morning star is hidden, ...
In my whole life, it hasn't happened to me before, ...

Black American Music is based in the ring shouts and spirituals of a largely enslaved population

It's basis is in the early colonial period during a time period before chattel slavery took hold and thus musical ideas did take shape.

Folks music is an early branching out of those mixed race interactions and settings however as I stated already the basis of the main genres all are rooted in Negro Spirituals and Blues which were entirely based in the Black experience around the time of the civil war as well as the Jim Crow era.

There is no argument, White segregationist themselves called blues, swing, jazz and rock and roll as nigger music. They spoke on its evil influence on white youths, it's black art and the music and social establishments have always stated such.
