What do people think about nuclear power in your country?

It's cheap, safe and clean

that's better than average

it's the only viable alternative for fossil fuels now and for the next few decades at least, and breeder reactors will provide us with virtually unlimited power once we find a way to commercialize them.

but that won't stop dozens of idiots posting in here about MUH RADIOACTIVITY and MUH CHERNOBYL without actually doing any research on the subject. wind and solar will also be discussed favorably despite the obvious issue that they use up a massive quantity of rare metals in their construction, are extremely expensive even compared to nuclear and then can't be used everywhere because our capacitor technology isn't good enough.

Yeah, we have it good compared to many western countries

Cautious, but accepting it.
No one wants to live in the second Pripyat or Bhopal.
Merely 20 years ago they were still enriching weapon grade Plutonium 10km from my city and there are some nuclear waste burials there now. A nuclear power plant wouldn't really hurt.

It's not cheap, nuclear is actually quite expensive.

But I support building more nuclear power stations for a different reason: reliable supply. Apart from fossil fuels, nuclear is the only way you domestically produce large amounts of energy 24/7. Renewables are great but the high output renewables are reliant on wind, sun etc. The reliable renewables, like geothermal, are fairly low output.

Therefore the UK's energy security requires that we invest in nuclear

So you what, don't have any rivers?

If we used nuclear power as we use fossil fuels it would last 30 years.
>>
Thanks to the French we'll basically never have nuclear power
>>
>>53220178
The peasants are against it, and the people with IQs higher than 90 want it.
>>

Some experts are worried that nuclear power generation might become lost technology due to student not being interested in it, powerplant construction fuckups and greentardation, so they might not be that dumb.

French fucked up our nuclear power plant too which is why people aren't as supportive of it anymore.
THANKS FROGS for ruining the fun for everyone.

The problem with dams is that they harm the environment and nature around the river. Brits are very 'small c' conservative in general, and dislike anything that damages the countryside or animals.

Having said that, the river Severn has the second largest tidal range in the world, and we are building the world's first tidal lagoon in Swansea
