Hi, fellows.
I am a first grade student from Belarus (Eastern Europe) and I need some help.
In our country we are forced to studying British English (RP (Recieved pronunciation)) which is quite posh and outdated. I personally don't like that.
So, to improve my speaking ability I would like you, my American friends, to be of help to me.
Could you please pronounce some words and sentences and record them using "VOCAROO"?
It is not going to take too much time (for a native English speaker).
Do not try to over-pronounce or emphasize anything. Pronounce the words the way you pronounce them in everyday speech.

Here are some words I have troubles with:

Where Were Wear We're Were

There Their They're Dare There're (There are)

Father Farther Further Feather

Order Odor Outer

Bare Bear Beer Beard Bird

Letter Ladder Latter Later

Hut Hot Hurt Heart Hearth

Shoot Shute Shut Shat Shot Shirt Short

Dog Dug Duck Dock Dark

Batter Botter Butter Better Bitter

Warm Worm Womb

Wander Wonder

Here Hear Her Herd Heard

Stump Stomp

Whores Horse Horrors

Hours Ours

One Won

Want Won't

Mare Mayor

Full Fool Fuel

Battle Bottle Buttle Bettle Bittle

Cut Cot Caught

Lack Lock Luck Leck Lick Lyck Look

Color Collar Caller

Rider Writer

White Wight

Diseased Deceased

Draw Drawer

There are four birds.
I gotta get the ladder later to get the latter letter.
I heard her.
I hurt her.
God and birds.
Garden birds.

I genuinely don't understand, do you not know a solid RP accent immediately conveys sophistication and education not to mention that it's a panty-dropping in many countries.

I got a question. For my ears, these words "Wander Wonder" sound alike. Do they really have the same pronunciation?

It depends on which part of the country you're from. In the South, they can sound similar, in the North, they often don't.

And this thread isn't about people. It's about accents.
>>
>>38053601
In my experience, the difference is subtle but definitely there. A heavy Southern accent will give you "wander" as "Wo(w)nder" and "wonder" as "wuhnder"
