Are America and "Europe" really opposing concepts or is it just a useful dynamic for trans-Atlantic shitposting?
If America was located in Europe and had a population of say, 50 million instead of over 300, would we really still see them as a cultural "outsider"?
tl;dr: is "European" identity versus "American" identity a tangible thing or is European integration just a formation of a group identity to counter extra-European strength?

>Are America and "Europe" really opposing concepts or is it just a useful dynamic for trans-Atlantic shitposting?
Both, actually. Most cultural differences are superficial, the only real difference is how in Europe takes a passive stance, non-agression in world politics and rarely engages in physical combat anymore, we prefer to use sanctions and shit, while Americans yell FREEEDOM and bomb the country next to their target. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also Europeans usually are smart enough to realize that gun control is actually useful, while americans will say you'll have to pry their guns from their cold, dead hands. Americans worship capitalism, giant corporations, even as they destroy the planet, and the mere suggestion that it's a flawed system will result in you being called a filthy commie scum, so there's that. They aren't very conscious environmentally or rather at all. I'm surprised they aren't all living in a nuclear wasteland - yet.
>If America was located in Europe and had a population of say, 50 million instead of over 300, would we really still see them as a cultural "outsider"?
lol no. they fit in seamlessly. We're almost identical culturally. Food, clothes, social attitudes. The real difference is in politics.

They may have been solid static concepts in 1890 but not today, but 2015 both Europe and the US are rapidly changing so much. I don't know what the American "concept" is now, aside from managing the chaos of economy cycles, rapid immigration, demographic changes etc.
Europe is rapidly changing too

Politics vary by people. The reason gun control can't really happen in the US is the 2nd Amendment makes full restrictions illegal. It takes an enormous amount of consensus (which doesn't exist now) to change Amendments, and has only happened once.
US leaders try to maintain a pseudo-empire. We can't have a real empire like father Britain did, so economic hegimony comes through a mess of unfair trade deals and foreign bases
they were in 18th century
now they really arent, eu would militarize if it wasnt enslaved by nato and usa would culture itself if it wasnt so full of niggers and other undesirables

Not really. They're basically the same except in policy.
The EU is more subversive, while the U.S. is more dominating. The EU has effectively destroyed European democracy and runs on the fear of disunion so that its crooked economic model doesn't correct itself. The U.S. is very open with its political hedgemony and that its run by a couple of minied interests. Because who's going to stop the U.S. government?

>enslaved by nato
>t-they didn't let us genocide peacefully
when will you guys get over your nationwide craving to commit mass murder?
>>52742276
>gun control is actually useful
and by that you mean of course that we don't let civilians own aa guns and other auto-cannons right?
>>52745514
>Because who's going to stop the U.S. government?
Armed citizens who rise up against government tyranny.

please don't kid yourself
drones would rape your ass to oblivion just like they do for marching sandniggers

>Also Europeans usually are smart enough to realize that gun control is actually useful,
Switzerland has laxer gun laws than some US states.
Go away proto-t*rk

don't listen to him! commies raped his brain so bad he cannot recognize freedoms if they land in his face.

kek
Oh, look. Another thread of europeans agreeing that their way of doing business is objectively correct, and that americans do everything backwards, while at the same time ignoring any cultural differences between them.

>eu would militarize
no
you guys are way to fraction to function as whole militarily
group ops and coordination would be almost impossible due to a language barrier.
you can have an alliance but having an army for all of europe is impossible.
>father Britain
>armed citizens will rise up against government tyranny
>Americans would fit in seamlessly in Yurop
This is the most cringy autism i have ever seen here
