I wonder if i will go to space in my life time.
Im 31. When i was 10 i loved star trek. I remember looking in a magazine, they were selling a 'tricorder'. It was just a bunch of electronics slapped into a tricorder-shape. IT did stupid stuff like analyze visible spectrum and read EM fields or whatever, it also had a thermometer in it. It didnt do a lot, but i really wanted one. I was just 10 though, so i didnt get one.
Now i have a smartphone thats arguably more useful than an actual tricorder would be. And im sure with the right apps i can use its camera to do half the stuff that gadget did, and using the internet i can get the current temperature, and a questionable prediction of the temperature over several days!
Blows me away thinking about it. Because of that i wonder if low orbit passenger flights might not really be just 20 years away or something, and it will be a mundane occurrence.
My grandmother died a few years back, she was 93. She saw in her life the rise of the automobile and television, aircraft, landing on the moon, and the internet though she probably didn't understand it. When she was young she traveled in a covered wagon, literally.
Makes me hopeful that something neat will happen.

I was also born in 1990.
I am also sitting at home on Christmas without family or friends because I hate myself too much to bother spending the day with them.

But that is about hating them, not yourself. A lot of people hate spending time with their family, but they still do it to not hurt their feelings.
