The people seem insincere. Like they're constantly putting on an act. Always smiling. Always having a GREAT day. Always asking how you're doing. It's like a reverse boy who called the wolf scenario. If a Finnish person tells me he's doing great he has a reason to. He'll probably go on to explain WHY it's a particularly good day and better than the average day. If he has a shit day he'll tell me because he knows I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want a real response.
If a finn smiles at me it's because he/she likes me. If a finn asks me about my life he's genuinely interested, not just doing it because it's expected. I can have a conversation with a finn without worrying about whether he doesn't actually care and was just making small talk like is the case with Americans.
