1. state (murican)
2. what you love about it
3. what you hate about it

I'll start. from minnesota (live in colorado now but i'll do minnesota)

1. MN

2. Beautiful woods, hills, prairies, lakes, plentiful outdoor activities and Minneapolis is cool. also it's really far north and cold

3. cold and black lives matter is really annoying here. and the skiing blows mostly

pretty good state 2bh

1. I hail from the same state as OP.

2. I love the cold weather and how it deters others from being here. The relatively high-trust culture fixed comfortably in the middle of the best continent, inside the one single greatest nation that has ever existed, period, PERIOD, is an incredibly comfy and fairly low-rent place to be. We do not have the immediate security problems that other cunts or regions have, here. Also:

-MST3K
-The Mississippi, a metaphor for America
-cultural proximity to Canada
-keking the parallel with our little stinkfinger
-our two baseball championships (I have them proudly displayed as a little shrine in my closet).

3. Not much, really. The Somalis suck, of course but compared to the rest of America, that's about it.

>>

>>51134418
To expound on this, there's something in the US called the refugee act that allows the president to accept 50,000 refugees a year (I think he can take more but might need Congressional approval). If you consider the size of the US (both geographically and population wise), that's a really insignificant amount of people when you consider they'd get spread all over. But I don't think any refugees would come to Nevada. If they do, it will be an insignificant amount and they'll probably be on some random Federal territory. Maybe they'll go to Ayyrea 51 to get tested on

>>
>>51134561
I think the exact law says that the president can in emergency situations accept more than 50,000 per year.

Honestly I don't think that accepting refugees is politically popular in many places and he may be shooting his party in the foot if he does it. I wouldn't be shocked if even in California there's a "red tide" that develops - funnily enough the Hispanic population there is fairly xenophobic, at least when it comes to Muslims.

There's actually a decent Muslim population in the LV area, they have a mosque and everything

I think Muslims in the US are different than Muslims in Europe in the sense that they are recent immigrants and recent LEGAL immigrants to the US are generally well educated people who are probably a.) more secular and b.) more business minded. They dominate a few business tracts like Indians. Probably wealthier than white Americans (again because they have a small population and the only ones allowed in were successful capable dudes)
>>
>>51134669
Texas and Wyoming are underunderstandable. I've lived in AZ for many years and I think its hell on earth and left as soon as I was able to but even az has some good qualities.
Nevada is complete shit, literally no redeeming qualities. So bad. Vegas is a shithole, outside the strip its a horrible ghetto or endless suburbs. The rural areas are desolate and shit.

Also I think the refugee thing would be a bit different in the US in the sense that we wouldn't coddle them as much as it sounds like they get coddled in Europe (with welfare). I think they'd form business communities and the like and probably contribute decently but what do I know. I don't want em.

Have you guys ever gone to those small indian towns that are really just glorified truck stops? With indians coming up to you at the gas station while you are already afraid of getting scalped or shot with a bow and arrow, but then they just ask you for money to buy malt liquor or try to sell you shitty indian jewelry so they can go buy malt liquor. Then you tell them nah man I'm good then more come up to you. So then you go to one of their pre-Columbian casinos filled with old people and truck drivers. You get bored, buy some discount cigarettes and leave speeding down the interstate hoping apaches dont ambush you and execute you in savage manners?
Because that's what the northern half of those states consist of.
How can you enjoy it, fuck.

The ozarks are awesome. The air has a very distinct dryness and smells like cedar. Lots rivers, caves, and springs, even artesian wells. The land has a very ancient feel. Got to steer clear of the locals though. Meth is a real issue plus the fact that a lot of the men work at lead smelters.
>>
>>51135640
That reminds me of some of the rural parts of my state (Alabama), but replace the Indians with crackhead white people who would gut you for your money or if you're anything they don't like (gay, black, etc.). And replace the casinos with seedy motels owned by Guju Indians.
>>
>>51135640
I just like the natural beauty. In this desert between mountains in northern New Mexico there's a bridge over the Rio Grande and it's basically a mini grand canyon (Taos river gorge or something) and before you get to the bridge it's just lines of indians in pickups trucks selling trinkets for a quick buck. Definitely NONE of that in Minnesota, that's for damn sure.
>>
>>51135640

Nevada has more to offer than only casinos. Of course gambling is fun, but the landscape is also nice and relatively diverse with the deserts in the south and the forrests at lake Tahoe. The people were nice, but not as fake as in California. You have guns as in some other states and goldrush ghosttowns.
>>
>>51135686
Honest there are large swathes of the South that probably have a localized living quality comparable to sub-Saharan Africa. But the people vote Republican for some reason.

North Dakota is oil and farmland with a bit of forest. It will have the Russian cold, snow and wind though. The geography. The lakeshore and woods of the north and west are relaxing. Appalachian Ohio is great for camping, hiking, isolation, and other outdoors stuff.
Very blue collar economy. Heavy emphasis on manufacturing. Not many white collar jobs outside of big cities. Most of the major cities are bad with some good parts. Columbus is ok, and Youngstown has so much mafia that the FBI has a sizeable presence there.

Steinbeck was way over-exagerrating. Evidently there's some continuum but that just comes out of development. This was a nice series. He even visited a Russian Orthodox church, speaking of Russians:

Yeah, got it. Russia is also very diverse, but between climatic zones can lay tens of thousands of kilometers, it is very annoying. Hard-to-travel.

Love lakes and woods! I live in steppe, so we have salt lakes, where you can not drown. We have forest on north, but it not the same with redwoods tree for examp.

>If I had a conversation as an Alabaman with someone from say Boston we might not be able to fully understand one another
Thats just because unitedstatians are dumb
I can perfectly understand an argentinian and a cuban and a spaniard and our dialects are actually different.

1. Missouri

2. I love the nature and the Ozarks in the southern part, and I like route 66 being near me.

3. Annoying rednecks are everywhere. There's also a lot of meth.

I like it but ugh i'd rather live in Colorado or somewhere else.

This isn't the 1970's anon. Now if you are going to talk about crime in Youngstown its going to be dindu's and white dindu's. Also the Youngstown area has amazing pizza. Its not that cardboard with some tomato sauce and cheese garbage New Yorkers rave about.

Yea, Fort-Ross. I need to calm down, we have enough lands in Siberia *deep sigh*
>>
>>51136263
it's pretty cool, Fort Ross, been there a few times

I'm not sure how many Russkie posters there are on here but I at least know I talked to one about that I'm taking a Baltic cruise that will stop in St Petersburg next summer

Should be cool, I want to see the Hermitage, Peterhof, Church of Savior on Blood, etc. There's a weird rule that if I leave the ship for any reason other than official cruise-run business I have to get a special visa that costs like $500.

Yeah, some sort of stupid restrictions back to the USSR, hate it.

Also, Hermitage has long queues, full of noisy chinese, etc. I'd prefer the Russian Museum. Tons, TONS of epic stuff, very chip ticket, no queues, almost no turists. And should definitely go next to St. Isaac's Cathedral, it will break your mind.
>>
>>51136478
yea thanks man, we have like 3 days and I have to do official ones with the cruise since my dad doesn't want to spring for the $500 special visa. I think St Isaac's and Russian Museum are options. I still need to pick which excursions I'm doing

Good luck, man. Importantly, do not be afraid of russians, they look very trickly, tough and unsmily, but in fact they do not want some evil or gonna hurt you, they just closed to strangers.

I have dealt with Russians before, there's a decently sized community in the Bay Area

I have to go to work now, take care
