The Visigoths came.

They tasted the Visigoth dick.

No one was safe anymore, people left cities for the countryside where local lords could defend them, a huge crisis started because there was no stable kingdom and there were wars and invasions everywhere. People thought that the apocalipse was happening.
>How was your cunt affected?
It was divided in different regions while barbarian armies were fighting to conquer them.
>What happen to all the Romans?
They were still there, while barbarians at the beginning attacked them and then they tried to learn how to rule a country from them.

There was no singular collapse of the roman empire. It was a gradular decline due to a number of factors - including incredibly cheap agriculture which collapsed roman economy.

Hell roman laws applied to former roman citizens for centuries after the collapse - look at leges romane barbororum.

What you had was a power vacuum which non roman kings filled.

Seriously? Is this how italians imagined it went? The biggest impulse leading to the collapse was essentially putting slaves and kolones on similar social strata with similar obligations and rights. Essentially prototype feudalism.

Oc the causes were different and the process was long but during the barbarian invasions people actually experienced violence, lost their homes, money etc. For example this is how Venice was born, people escaped in the lagoon that was safer than Aquileia, that was being attacked by barbarians because it was a great city while there was no organized army to defend it. People litterally thought that the end was coming and some pagand accused the cristians for having betrayed the gods while cristians thoght that god was punishing them for their sins.

We got frank'd and then we wuz charlemagne and shit and then we got independant and we became France
>>
Pretty much direct transition to Frankish Empire (Austrasia), there being centuries of anarchy ("Dark Ages") is a myth

Lot of insecurity, cities dwindling to small cores, emergency walls were built, for example Nimes at the worst time was reduced to its amphitheatre
The clergy took control, abbots were chief of armies, they made traties and wars against franks, burgunds, goths...
The abbot of Reims (st remy) made an alliance with the king of Franks it is the start of "France"
