I am happy that D-Day happened and yes it was relevant for building the cold war political system. However it wasn't that much relevant for the course of WWII. The Soviets were already advancing into Germany since the battle of Stalingrad in 1942 and even after D-Day the majority of German troops were stationed on the eastern front. And btw Canada liberated the Netherlands.
