There's no access to the single market without being subject to that and in the long run the drawbacks of mass-immigration would outweigh the damage caused during these next 3 or 4 years of uncertainty. The EU is falling apart anyway and trade with them has been decreasing as a percentage of world trade year on year for a long time. One thing is absolutely for certain, the EU is not going to stop British people living, travelling studying etc. over there. The Spanish economy is reliant on British homebuyers for instance. The only real point of contention between the two parties (after all the vindictive politicking ends) will be the economic arrangements. We won't have access to the single market nor have to accept free movement of people, but a separate trade deal is probably on the cards as Britain is one of the EU's most important trading partners. The economic chaos in the European markets has thankfully proved just how important we are to an extent I don't think any British person would have thought possible until last week.

The obvious issue that is up in the air right now is how long are negotiations going to take and how much damage will they do. key businesses and firms could easily look to relocate abroad to stay in the Eurozone. Trade deals don't just materialise overnight and if firms feel they're losing out then they'll just get out.
I don't deny that Britain could get a reasonable trade agreement - but no one can rationally deny that it comes down to timing and the strengths of the negotiator (and we don't even know who that will be yet). Because we are in such uncharted waters it's impossible to say that everything is going exactly to Boris' plan - even if things do work out well in the end for Britain.
