How do I get out of a color rut? I'm having trouble using anything other than realistic color schemes and it's making my work boring.

just say fuck it and go mad with the colors/ generaly use brighter colors/get inspired by artists using brighter colors ot make you want to try new things

no seriously, i have a feeling your definition of 'realistic' color schemes doesn't match the true amount of variation that's out there. beyond that, just experiment. find colors you're uncomfortable using and play around with them. nathan fawkes' color studies are a good example
