Something's broken, what do I do?
>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].
What do we draw?
>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.
What's a low effort warning?
>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.
>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.
What happens if I'm eliminated?
>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.
How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?
>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.
Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?
>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

It was pretty good, dude is in a coma but also sent back in time or something to the 70s and needs to do detective work to try and wake up and be in the present world again. Would recommend. I need to do the same, haven't sculpted anything since LAS started. It's really damaged my progress but I wouldn't have enough motivation to work every day if I wasn't in this thing. Shame drawing in 3d isn't allowed here for some reason.

I'm not saying doing something you're not interested in. Heck, I'm not even saying you shouldn't draw one thing/theme your whole life, a lot of masters have a few things going through their whole life work.
I'm talking more about "searching" for yourself in your drawings, you know, when you try to make it more than just an illustration. maybe start experimenting with color, or start drawing baby feet, or if you suck at something like exp landscapes you should pick up and do a bit of that.
I don't know, that's how I see this whole thing, be you amateur or someone with greater aspiration, you have to fight it out with yourself.

Which is why it belongs here. Sculpting is probably one of the best activities you can do to truly understand 3d form but I doubt most people here care. They just want to jerk it to Mullins and Ruan Jia and other "real" artists.

This. I recently spent a few days doing studies outside of my comfort zone, then decided to spend a day drawing something from imagination that was mostly within my comfort zone. It was fun and I was actually satisfied with how it turned out, so it's all good. You should stretch your comfort zone, but you don't need to fully reject it.

This contest is unhealthy for me, it's gotten to a point where I put in the bare minimum effort every day just to stay in and i'm not improving.
I draw for 30 minutes then submit, giving me a false sense of accomplishment, then I don't draw for the rest of the day.
I might be the time of day I have to submit the drawing everyday, since I'm a night owl and getting my brain ready for drawing everyday so early is difficult since I'm a plebeian procrastinator.
I'm stopping at 69 days, it seems appropriate.

Honestly I'm in the same boat and I'm tempted to leave as well but when I noticed how I progressed even slightly when it comes to drawing thanks to these 30-60min a day it makes me want to keep pushing it.
Out of these 70 days it's true I haven't really drawn much outside of LAS but there still were days where I did. Surely it'll get better if I keep it up. If I can't even draw 30min of studies or sketches a day for LAS then I might as well give up drawing entirely. So unless you're giving up on drawing I believe you just need to fix your mentality and perspective on all of this.

When you're long term NEET you can get past that feeling eventually. When I first went neet it was hard finding motivation for a good few months but after a while I just started feeling like getting up and doing things and I felt better and more energized on the days where I accomplished something. There are some times where I go past the timer to fix something up, but most of them are done in the 30 seconds. The gestures you see are also only some of the ones I draw. I erase the really shitty ones and draw a different pose over them. Also sometimes I do some corrections after I'm done with all the gestures. You autists should realize not all of us have to argue for our own situation. I've put in at least 3 or 4 hours just about every day since day 1, I'm not slacking off. I'm just arguing because I disagree.
The way the site functions there are plenty who are working outside the 'intended use' of drawing every day already, namely forza fags, since they're submitting a single day's work for 2 days instead of submitting each day's work, they treat each piece done as a day's work.
Since this is clearly allowed, it seems the point of the site is to split all your work done up into 30 minutes chunks and submit them as days pass, while your own drawing schedule completely differs from your submissions, you're just working out of a buffer.
Kind of besides the original point, but it's a gripe I have with the system, so when so many of you complain about someone not obeying the rules I chuckle.
The main point I think is important is that you're all focusing too much on everybody else, you should shut up and worry about yourself. The ones submitting sub 30 minute works aren't going to improve, so they're not winning anything. Are you really so flustered at the idea of not winning an imaginary prize you would actively seek out your competition and have them thrown out?
This is about art gains, if you spend your time mad about someone else's lack of resolve you should seriously reconsider your priorities.

People are actually defending low effort? The whole point of this is that it's a competition to push yourself to work everyday. The rules from the start have been to upload current work, nothing old to cheat and avoid doing any, and must be at least 30 minutes work.
If you low effort or cheat with old work, you'll be pulled up for it through the tribunal, do it again and you get kicked out. Isn't that obvious? If you want to just draw and not be bullied by people kicking you out for not following the rules then just go to the draw thread surely.

low effort reports are dumb because 99% of the time you won't be able to tell how long it took someone to draw something. It could take a beginner 30 minutes to draw 4 boxes whereas I could do it in a minute or 2. Maybe the final product looks low effort but the person spent an hour doing the construction underneath. Only the person who submitted would truly know how long it took.

#5 is rather low effort-y but after looking at his profile I noticed he was a rather serious LAS poster that seemed to try his best improving and trying things out. Looking back at the submission again I would say it was rather good considering how beginner that person seems to be. For that reason I'm letting it slide.
#6 is very odd. At first I smiled because of how simplistic it is but the more I look at it the more I actually like it. It's... really nice in an odd way. For that reason I didn't punish, the other reason is because this person hasn't been part of LAS for a long time anyway so it doesn't matter.
#7 can legit be 30min if done by a beginner all while reading a book about facial structure.

I pardoned everyone except Fibinochi. Especially with Anon's case, if you notice the way he's shading, it looks like he's making a lot of strokes, and the attempted contouring of the face easily takes a good amount of time. Beginners often have problems with being economical with their strokes, erasing, and focusing on fine details instead of the general idea. You just have to look for these indications.
