Seriously though, does anybody?? I'm trying to make some money and it seems I have no idea where to go lmao

Every art community I knew about is either dead or not in English so I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing?? Does anyone on here have ideas??

My requests did well on here for a while but freebies take a lot out of me for no cost to the other person lmao
>>
I do. For me, it depends on the pricing.
It's hard to find a decent artist that won't ask $20+ for a single sketch, but when I do, I stick with them.

What are your prices m8?
>>
someone should make a commission thread imo
>>
What should the details hold, Anon?
>>
>>462583

True, pricing is a big issue lately. I've seen kids about 12 years old selling their beginner work for about $30 on dA. I'm glad they're confident and all but come on - it's a bit much lmao

My prices are in my dumb wix site - please ignore my dumb about me pages etc

I follow a girl who streams on picarto at least once a week and her adoptables make like 200$ because she's well known on furry sites and is active in adoptable communities. I talked to her about it and she said you should get well know/ingrained in the community where you wanna sell.
>>
Sure. With the money I make from commissions.
>>
>>462747
I read that wrong and thought each adoptable was $200. My bad!

>>462588
I'm pretty sure that's against 4chan rules.
>11. Advertising (all forms) is not welcome
>>
>>462747

I have tried for about 6 years to be very into the dA and FA community since those seem to be the most active for adopts etc. Nobody seems to want to buy my designs?? I guess I'm either over charging or designing the wrong things. Does the artist you follow have any other tips for someone trying to make it in the Adopt/Commission side of the art world online??

>>462788

If it is then 4chan is full of rule breaking lmao I've seen tumblr promotion threads all over the place which is advertising.
>>
Go to da.
Upload your work.
See what other artists with similar skill and subject matter thet you're able and willing to do are charging for commission.
If you're not great, then doing niche (but not too niche) art like tickling helps.
Tah your work ro get noticed.
Watch / favorite / comment on orher artists doing similar work helps.
Post a journal entry with what you're willing to draw and your prices.
Keep uploading samples qhenever you get a chance so people who waych your page remember you're alive.
If you're willing to do fetish stuff consider a similar presence on furaffinity / hentai foundry (if they accept your stuff) / &c.
>>
>>462866
>Tah your work ro get noticed.
excuse my derp
TAG your work
>>
>>462853
I don't think the promotion threads quite the same. Yes, they post links to their own pages, but you don't have to pay to visit said pages.
>>
>>462577
I lurked your stuff and I think your problem is your artstyle isn't something something that many of the people who throw money to commission people want. I have a friend with the same issue. They're skilled and all, but their art doesn't exactly cater to weebs or /co/ types, you're in the same boat.

Basically your art pegs you as a hipster who draws as pretentious as possible, even if you're not. No one wants to throw money at an art hipster unless they're hipsters themselves. They want skilled artists, but they also want an artists who will draw their OC/waifu close to how they look, rather than drawn in a sparkle, glitter style.
>>
>>462976
Shit that's exactly what I was hoping to avoid. Any tips to not draw like that then?? I mean I can always lose the shiny noses etc but I don't know what to do past that. What style is currently selling a ton??
>>
>>463026
Do you really want to kill off your artstyle for money? That's kinda sad.
I mean you don't HAVE to cater to others just because its easy cash. You really only should draw what you enjoy drawing, if you're not having fun doing it, its not worth the money imo.
>>
>>463026
If you want art to be a job then you'll have to get used to the idea of working, primarily the concept that you are working /for/ your audience, not the other way around.
No one employs special snowflakes, they employ reliable individuals who can offer what they want, that's why the best are also flexible.
There is no current 'style' that is popular over the others, save 'realistic' and 'anime'. As long as you can do a number of styles effectively you will be considered an acceptable artist.
From what I've seen you've got a ways to go before I'd consider employing you. Perhaps in the meantime you could demonstrate what you've got by drawing the character in the OP in 'Heroic Pose' with realistic proportions, about 6 heads tall.
>>
Doing erotic commissions can be very lucrative if you're good enough and even if you're not great, people will still pay for them so long as their priced accordingly.

Go to Hentai Foundry.
>>
Having checked out your site, there's no way you're gonna make a living with art. It just screams Tumblr aesthetic, & y'alls style is a dime a dozen. Bent at the hip, oversized hands, funky proportions, pouty lips, randomly vomited rainbow colors, shaded noses, not quite there anime eyes, semi-furry or non-binary OC's, I mean, it's like you're intentionally trying to hit every stereotype of a "Tumblr artist". Even your method of type, the excess use of words like "Dumb" & "lmao", Christ. Try to have a bit less personality & originality, & ironically, you may end up actually having some afterward. Beyond that, your attitude towards art is despicable, wanting to sell out & cast aside what you enjoy doing in the favor of crowd pleasing & generating funds. You're not an artist, you're a poser.

To answer your original question, yes, I buy commissions all the time. Hand drawn ink pieces from comic creators whose work I like/admire, ranging in price between $20-$150.
>>
>>463066
That is some hard truth right there. Now, since I'm kinda dim, could you please explain a few terms for me? Google isn't showing me the right results.
>Bent at the hip
>not quite there anime eyes
>semi-furry

Well, your words are pretty damn harsh but I can understand where you're coming from. Personally I never meant my answer to sound like I was giving up what I love. I didn't plan to give up my own style for the sake of money. I just wanted to know examples of what's selling so I could also try expanding my own work. I have a few styles I can do off hand, some of which are from cartoons etc I watch. I'm sorry you felt the need to ream me without actually wanting to know my motives but that's fine lmao. Also, the whole personally attacking me thing is really nice - enjoyed that bit a ton :^) You seem like a real nice guy. Thanks for all the opinions, I'll be sure to work on myself as a person and artist for your sake since you see me as lacking lmao

>>463074

What they were referring to by the way was the slouching kind of poses (bent at the waist etc), the large and strange eyes, and the people with ears/tails shown in my art. I tend to do the same thing a lot which is something I am currently trying to work on.

>>463100

I would love an elaboration on "eyeplease" if that's okay. Did you mean it's not pleasing to look at or??? And if that is what you meant please tell me how to improve. I'm always happy to learn new methods and such :^)
>>
>>462866

Ahh sorry I took so long to reply to this! I didn't seem to get a notification?? Anyways, this is all really good advise - thank you! I wanted to make an FA account for a long time but never knew how to really get my work noticed on there?? Adoptables are so plentiful on there it's amazing lmao Though, I have had a lot of people ask me to do fetish requests on tumblr/here. Giantess and feet stuff are super popular aren't they??? It's crazy how often I see that stuff!

>>463028

Sorry for not replying to you either! I'm missing replies all over the place ahh! I agree with you though. I never meant to make it sound like I would because I won't. I enjoy my work as is (although I'm always happy to practice and improve) and didn't plan on giving it up for cash. When I talked about wanting to know what sells I simply wanted things to reference when practicing/sketching to work it into my own work or develop a side-style type deal to use as another style people could commission from me. I'm trying to grow my artwork past the same dull stuff I've been doing for the last 6 months. It's cool to see you're not cool with people losing their uniqueness though! (Do I even have a uniqueness?? lmao who knows)
>>
>>463052

Hmm. Sound advice, I'll definitely try harder to gain more experience and styles. I can use all the help I can get artistically lmao, thank you. Also, I would but I would feel strange drawing that considering that dumb doodle is of myself from a while back. I can try drawing other things in that way though! Thanks for the suggestion :^)

>>463065

Man I totally forgot about Hentai Foundry! I honestly don't draw porn much though - my anatomy of genitals is pretty horrid (not to say my anatomy in general isn't bad). I could work at it though. Do you think I'd have a shot on there???
>>
Yeah, your artstyle literally screams tumblr. As for commisions - Try making auctioned adoptions on DA. It's the only way you might get money with your current skills.
>>
>>463103
>>463109
Aah, okay, thanks.

Now, OP, I ain't sayin' that you should change for me, but the multiple question marks and frequent use of "lmao" (especially when something doesn't seem funny) tend to come across as annoying for me. As for your art... it's not my cup o' tea.
>>
>>462577
I am having the same question.
not sure if my pictures have enough quality. started a blog recently to drive some traffic there, but it's going slow, very slow.
>>
I only recently started buying commissions on and off, i have a lot of free art of what i want but having it be a little more personalized and specific for my taste is really something i like
I've paid 50 for an image and an alternate colored version
30 for 2 noncolored images (and an edit of each one)
and 30 for another colored image and an edit

Setting prices and determining what you're willing to do is the most important

For example:
If you don't want to draw poop, make that extremely clear (or just do a price hike on fetishes you hate if you draw porn)
or if you hate Elves, never draw elves, etc
