Anyone collect medals or have some saved in the family? I have British medals from WW1 and 2 and a couple others. I've wanted an Iron Cross for years and bought the one pictured recently, surprised how much more expensive they've become, but I did go to a legit dealer to buy in person as there are so many counterfeits going around. I'm not sure whether to get a WW1 cross as well or to focus on 3rd reich. Predictably that's more valuable despite being more recent.
What have you got or would like to get?
>conspicuous consumption
lol
... I have my grandfathers' medals, including a WW2 iron cross. But why the fuck would you buy other people's medals?

Hmm my great-uncle has inherited a Légion d'honneur medal, as I recall, and there may be a Napoleonic uniform tagged to it too. It dates back from an ancestor that served under Napoleon.
And otherwise, my grandmother has entrusted us with knowledge that there was a cousin in the family that was a general in WW1 (french army) and that probably means that he received a medal at some point. Hence, I'm pretty certain that if I hunted down that part of the family, I could buy off the medal from them.
But yeah that's it. Just sounds like an entertaining thread, so I felt like smudging my irrevelant facts into it as some sort of bumb.
And I can't advise you that well on your medals, but best of luck.
