If I post without source and answer when someone asks, then that's one bump from someone else, another one from me if I see it. If I don't help at all, then that's potentially several bumps asking for source and another one answering it. In my experience, source gets answered most of the time. I'm encouraged when the thread stays up longer, more people see webms I took time to make, and if I'm lucky I'll later see someone else post it and it may be popular enough that it becomes a go-to post for a topic or it sparks peoples' interest. That's my ultimate goal. However, I still wish I didn't need to do this. If people reposted old and low quality content less often, particularly in the OPs or near the tops of threads, then there would be less noise to compete with on the board and I would stop hiding the source as a way to draw attention and ensure longevity.

5. Making webms is easy. I usually use a chrome video ripper and a very early release of 'webm for retards' made by a 4chan user back when the board first allowed webms. That said, I go to extra effort for many webms, searching for the highest quality video available to rip or download, using the slower conversion process to maintain that quality, or even sometimes cropping unnecessary space or black bars or using another program to splice multiple clips together first. Call it dedication to the craft. This still isn't extremely difficult or time consuming, but I wouldn't go to any of that trouble if I were only making them for myself.

6. How can you benefit from any of this? Help encourage new content and promote your own interests. Few people want to see the same old shit over and over again, so keeping things fresh is good for everyone. When you see good content you haven't seen posted before, consider saving it to repost later even if you wouldn't normally. This encourages whoever made it to keep doing it or to do it more often (very many of the webms you see here are made for 4chan by various people and posted here first) and exposing others to more variety has a higher chance of showing them something that hooks them onto the same thing you like. Simply commenting to say how much you like something also helps and so does telling people how to find more of that actor/actress/content (hypocritical, I know, but I'd do it if I weren't the one making the content) helps too. Consider making your own webms. Like I said, it's easy, and you might like just the process of doing it or find it convenient in the long term. Lastly, bumping is good, bumping with content is better, but try to represent your interests well and slow the inevitable quality degradation of a thread by prioritizing posting new things over things that you personally love but have seen posted more before. All of this is more important and effective the more niche or underrepresented whatever you want to push is.
