Also, unlike cars, bikes cannot change direction instantly without flinging the rider off. Not that I'm defending the driver who illegally turned in front of the biker but seeing someone merge in front of me like that, I always watch them like a hawk and give them tons of space before I try to pass them to make sure they aren't going to do anything unusual.
