help fcfc !! -e geditwill open the most recent line in bash history in gedit. When you edit, save, and close gedit, the editted command will be written to /tmp and executed in your terminal.
Preferred fc editor can be set with FCEDIT variable set in .bashrc. Otherwise $EDITOR is used.
