hah
I can answer

any 1 platter HDD 1TB drive is quiet
I had both 500GB seagate (inaudible)
and 1tb wd blue ezes, (quiet)

but those were not permanent, well 500GB was but its small

so I bought WD RED 3TB
its ranked as one of the quietest and I agree

then I was buying last month another HDD 4TB seagate for NAS,

4TB seagates have great reliability in backblaze stats, better than WDs
so I got it, and returned it few days later
it was not loud, at least not too much, but it was audible and I just didnt want that

so I bought another WD RED 3TB

I found some ranking on silent PC or somewhere, that 3TB model is quieter than 4TB red...

anyway thats what I know

>>53416322
Probably a stupid question can NAS drives be used in a desktop?
>>
>>53416692
>can NAS drives be used in a desktop?

They can provided they have a connector that the motherboard supports. It's not a good idea to do that, though, as NAS drives aren't optimised for general desktop usage

Ah okay thank you
>>
>>53416473
How does that even work if you don't even know his IP address? Tech illiterate here, pls explain.
>>
>>53416692
yeap
they are the same as desktop hdd
but
longer warranty
optimized for storage, not speed
so lower rpm 5400/5900 rpm

>>
>>53416692
No nigger I meant use a home server pc to keep your main pc quiet
>>
I wasn't even aware Hitachi sold HDD's under the Hitachi name anymore.
>>
>>53418627
I suppose that is a viable option for my media files, regardless i still need big drives for muh gaems
>>

I think CrystalDisk just displays Hitachi, drives are labelled HGST
