So I want to move to a multi computer set up. The first thing I want to do is set up using my laptop for music whilst still using my desktop for games.

What should I look into for getting sound from multiple sources that have one output?

Is what I am suggesting in anyway plausible?

just get a cheap 4 channel external soundcard, for around $50 you can get one so you can plug your computer, laptop, and have a master out and even headphone out.

I had one couple of years ago when i started Djing.

Yes, just use an audio interface. Plug the output of both into the input of the interface, and plug headphones/speakers into the interface.

Can you link an example of what your talking about? I dont think I am looking at the right things.

Depends on how picky you are.
Behringer does not sound good but they are cheap and small.
But if you need something that sounds better look for a small soundcraft console. they cost about 3 times more.
I have a small behringer that i have had for like 7 years and i got it second hand but it still works!
It sounds like crap but it works!

Would this work using two usb inputs or some shit? How would I connect it from my desktop to the interface?

The Behringer looks like what I was imagining. How would connecting it all up work? Would it be usbs or some other cable or what?

i would use these cables http://www.kabelbutiken.com/media/catalog/product/cache/2/thumbnail/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/1/0/1030412-2.jpg

Okay but I need someone to explain how I use the Behringer to combine input from my pc and laptop and then output that to my headphones. Can someone explain this part?
