What certs do you have? Which ones did you get before your current job and which ones during?

I knew nothing about IT jobs, so I got a CompTIA A+ and it got me a swanky job almost immediately.

I have since been fired from that job, but shhhh.

I only have A+, which is useless.

My current employer could care less about certs, and is more interested in work experience that can be verified. Associates is a minimum a requirement, but they don't really care what you studied either.

Too many cert factories out there, they do not prove anything. At least for most sysadmin related work.

ITIL Expert and some PMI project management certifications.

Most certs are a "get your resume looked at" beacon. ITIL, CoBIT, and SS mean you have at least an idea of how organized IT shops are supposed to run.

If you're going to get technical certs, get architecture ones...administration certs are a waste of cash. No one pays administrators these days because most deployments and upkeep are easy-peesy for newbies.

Err, i- i have SSL certs for website.

I don't have any certs or formal training but I got a job as a software developer.

>What certs do you have?
None.

>Which ones did you get before your current job and which ones during?
None and none.

Really depends on your industry, but even doing sysadmin/syseng/devops I've done really well without them. You are better off learning a ton and working for BigName TechCo for resume padding.

>have
CCNA, A+
>before current job
A+

I've since found that the A+ is fucking worthless. Get a CCNA, degree, and most importantly experience.
