hey /g/ having some trouble with fstab in my install. i have a 1tb hdd set up as my home dir#second hdd as home partition

and its fine for me to get the files there works no problem but when a program say digikam is trying to write a database to my Pictures directory it can't. I tried changing permissions but it reverts back so i'm thinking its fstab and the default ownership. anytip helps
I'm trying to use urxvt and I'm trying to costumize it but I'm having a hell of a time for some reason. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, when I try to change the settings via the xdefaults file nothing happens. So I thought maybe it was just me so I went and copied a file from https://awesome.naquadah.org/wiki/Urxvt and saved it as ~/.Xdefaults and still nothing is happening.
So I went to the arch wiki and it says that it should go to ~/.Xresources so I copied it there and still nothing. Pic related is Distro/WM if it's relevant at all. (And the terminal pictured is the default Gnome one.)

I just installed Debian and set up Firefox for secure browsing, noscript, no requests, ran the foritification guide, and now most pages only display the basic layout and text.
This is how I like my browser, however I am aware that it isn't possible to access email/banking/paying for shopping on it, so when I used Windows I always used vanilla Internet Explorer and only for those two purposes, and not for anything else ever.
I wouldn't even browse on it if I was buying shit, I would copy the link from firefox and just buy it from that point to avoid all the ads and gay shit.
Now that I am on debian, I obviously don't have IE, and I'm not sure which browsers are to be used/avoided

A theory is that systemd was pushed so hard because it colossal convolution would allow the NSA (whom Red Hat -- a major systemd proponent -- is known to cooperate with) to hide an obfuscated backdoor in there.
If you're trying to avoid three-letter agencies you'd best stay away from anything with systemd or any corporate backing. Of course if that's your threat model you're on a whole other level of fucked, so stick to tails.

I made a Tails Live USB. When I use it on my laptop (T420 Thinkpad) and shut it down, in the RAM wiping part, it gets stuck and never actually wipes the memory. I have to press the power button to shut it down. And it won't boot up again right away to Tails, in fact it will refuse to show the Thinkpad logo until I remove the USB, which causes to promptly show me GRUB and my regular Debian installation. I then have to boot into Debian, power the computer off, plug the USB again, and boot from the USB for it to be able to boot into Tails again.
Do you have any idea how I could fix this "getting stuck at wiping RAM" bit? A few friends with other different laptops told me it happens to them too.
I tried the same Tails USB on my desktop and it goes through the RAM wiping process without issues

I installed amd/ati drivers, did ati config--initial, and booted up TF2
It is laggy in a strange way, I have it to high settings and although it all renders perfectly, the lag is constantly started and stopping in intervals of seconds , and the mouse movement feels like its fucking slowed down and really weird
Is this a case of missing drivers?

I added the jessie main contrib non free, ran

After that I installed steam, discovered the 32bit dependency problem, fixed that, installed tf2, ran it and its a lagfest.
