I have the Pure. Would not recommend. Hasn't received any update since February. Pretty sure lenovo is abandoning it.

I had Nexus 5X, can recommend. feels nice, good phone all across the board. Didn't use pure, so no idea, but the cheaper version of it (play?) is total crap and ugly as fuck.
Recently upgraded to Nexus 6P, recommend as well, if someone is interested.

Neither. Buy an LG G4 and install cyogen.
Removable battery and SD expansion at a cheaper price. Why not? I hate to pull this argument but it's 2016 there is no excuse to step BACKWARDS like Apple and lock the user out.
I was in the same boat coming from buying nothing bug Nexus phones and I have no regret. Moto X was too fucking big and I didn't wanna be locked down hardware wise by the Nexus line.
