Do you not understand that it's a $200 card? It also has half the power draw that my 390 uses. Sure they could've lowered the cost of the 290, repackaged it a little, and call it a 480, but, it wouldn't cost $200.
And, it's more efficient than a 970, by about 75-100 watts. It's also generally faster than the 970 in most games, and still cost less, and has much better VR peformance.
Seriously, why is it so hard to understand this is a $200 card, that gives people on a budget an overkill 1080p experience, and a good experience at 1440p?

This card was made for me, need to upgrade from my 7870, which has been oh so good to me
for me, it's atleast double to triple the performance of my 7850, but considering I'm doing the most demanding thing I'll do with my 7850, run 2 runescape clients, and it's only running at 20% usage, I think the 480 would be kinda overkill.
I still want it though. Going to wait for sales on the aftermarket ones, by then we should have heard about 470/490, and see how nVidia react, unless the 480s flop and retailers just want to get rid of them.
