lol wcc and vcardz reposting the same shittier polnish benchmark that shows an heavy OVERCLOCKED 970 vs a stock 480.

which is totaly fine because a heavy oc 970 = stock 980 so the 480 perfoms just fine on 980 level.

MAXIMUM kek.

I'm waiting at least a year for the new nodes to mature. By then Nvidia and AMD will have their rehashes out and the node will be nice and cozy.

Always upgrade halfway through a node, never at the launch of one. The processes are hella expensive at launch, low yields, bad silicon, etc.

It's impressive that you interpreted my post as pro-AMD, when I'm actually making fun of all retards buying brand new beta silicon. Whether it's a 480 or 1080, you're a retard if you buy this trash.

I bought a 780Ti well into 28nm's life cycle, and I plan to buy an 1180Ti well into 16nm's life cycle, like a smart person (aka not you).
>>
>>55298124

And I suppose the 980's performance will stay EXACTLY the same and generously wait for the 480 to catch up in about half a year?
>>
>purposely waiting to buy a cuck tier poorfag card

literally fuck off with this shit, the 1080 is the most powerful card literally ever made, and it would be a mistake not to buy it. Thanks to BASED Nvidia, you can get an unmatched power from a single card that outperforms any shit tier AMDrone cuck card, especially the fucking firehouse fury, and there's literally no excuse for not buying a superior Nvidia card. Also any jelly AMDrone cuck that tries to rebute this needs to fuck off, one: there's no argument for superiority, two: AYYMD opinion dis""Carded""... Also don't expect anything near as good from AMDrone, the 490x? more like the 490nothankyou

>inb4 muh powerdraw

fuck off, there is nothing from with a 450 watt TPD, and 100C is a temp the card was tested to run at, so it literally doesn't fucking matter.

I sold my gtx 970 like a year ago and have been rockin' the good ol hd4600 ever since, so it the rx 480 really got me amped up, especially with all this shilling going on on /g/ about it beating the 980.

Meanwhile, it barely catches on to the 970. It's still a good deal I guess, but only if the tdp is better than the 970. Maybe the non-reference 480 will overclock better.

Most likely yes.

It's in the name dude. The 480 is just a faster 380. It's going to be the ultimate card in terms of price/performance for 1080p, but for 1440p you'll want the extra headroom the 390 will provide.

Or depending on how expensive the 390, you can just pick up a 480 for now and upgrade to a 490 when it comes out.

AMD failed, Nvidia increased their per core performance this generation by 50%.

Even if Polaris slightly exceeds the 390x its only a 25% increase per core and they were working with a much older arch. The 480 would have be equivalent to a Fury to match the performance gains we from comparing the 1070 to the 980ti.

$200 looks good, but start comparing it to a 390 OC and its not nearly as exciting.

$230 to match 480 to 390 8gb.
$260 and 3 more weeks for a decent custom 480.
390 same price, comes with game bundles.
OC vs OC 10%? performance difference. Would have been a pretty far cry from getting a new card that beat 980ti for $400 had Nvidia not flubbed their launch and jewed everyone with this FE bullshit.

A 56 CU card on 14nm at $400 in stores right now would be crushing nvidia with this shitty launch.

You can explain how I'm interested. They got the 600mm2 980ti with 2816 processors onto a 314mm2 chip with 1920 processors, half the tmus, 2/3 the number of rops. Clock speeds are up 600 mhz compared to 150mhz for AMD.
>>
Here's the reality.

AMD is going to sell a ton of RX 480s because the price point is attractive and it is labeled as VR ready. Unless the 1060 shows up on shelves tomorrow then people looking for a $200 GPU are going to do a quick comparison of the RX 480 to the GTX 960/R9 380X/GTX 970 and see that the 480 is newer and has more VRAM. That's pretty much it.

$200 card casuals don't know or care about ROPs, shader counts, driver overhead, etc. They just want to play Assassin's Creed 4 or whatever on their 1080p monitor.

Kind of a reason, the shills have been flooding /g/ with non stop threads about how great this card is going to be and hyping the ever loving shit out of it. Now it looks like it's gonna launch and be total shit... Why not just tell the truth and not lie and get peoples hopes up? "Hey, we have a card that should be quite a bit cheaper than the 970, and perform pretty close to it." then people won't be disappointed and lied to.
>>
>>55298983
It should still perform better than a 380x. This leak seems weird even amongst all the other bullshit leaks.
>>

>>
All nvidia has to do at this moment to absolutely crush the 480 is to lower the prices of the 980/970. If there are any paid shills out there, listen up: tell your bosses to lower the prices and AMD will be officially bankrupt and dead.

>can't tell the difference between false-flagging nvidiots and actual AMD enthusiasts

Some simple math has pretty much told us all we need to know about this chip for a while now, namely that it'd be somewhere around 390/970 performance at stock and if it overclocks really well that it could reach 390x/980 levels. That's the only real unknown but given GCN's history of weak overclocking not something that people should have been banking on. Only the most optimistic people thought it'd be able to reach Fury levels when overclocked. The die just isn't big enough to be that powerful.
>>
>>55298970
Theres no arch improvements outside of the clock speed.
2304 CU 480 at 1266mhz is 5833 tflops.
2816 CU 390x at 1050mhz is 5913 tflops.
If they had just stuck Hawaii on the smaller node and clocked it up 200mhz it would probably be better than this.

It was never supposed to be a high performance solution. If anything, you have a 390x with half the heat/power consumption, and half the price tag.

The 480 will do fine. It approaches close to 980 performance by the looks of things since the Zotac 970 OC approaches stock 980 levels.

It is (likely) a great card.
