I plan to buy the Samsung S7, Sim free and just put my old sim inside it, never owned samsung phone but are this phone looks good and I've heard some good views but few mixed views on here. I can't trust myself with the edge because of dropping it or accidental touching etc. I want a good camera, good storage and good overall usage. Any cons I should know about?

I'm trying to login to Persona but it gets stuck on "invoking..." for a few minutes then says "network error".

How to fix? Did Persona just puke itself and it'll be fine later?
>>
I'm planning on buying a 4k monitor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160278).

My graphics card (280x) doesn't seem to have a DisplayPort input, so my question is, can I use a DP - hdmi adapter for 4k 60hz viewing? Or would I need a double-ended DP cable for that?
>>
My PSU is 800w and could easily handle 2 graphics cards.
It has 4 6-pin sockets but it came with just 2 cables.
Would it be fine leeching off the 4 pin molex rail if I get an adapter?

price I guess? xiaomi redmi note 3 is $170 for 5.5"
or redmi 3 pro is $150 for 5"
both with larger batteries, but of course no oled or some other shit, but good overall
>>
>>55255721
I've stacked quite a few adapters on top of each other. Should be fine as long as both cards are less than 800W, and that 800W is not a max output (rather than a typical output).
>>
>>55255665
why not use dvi or hdmi? 60hz at 4k should be no problem for that or it can only do 30hz?
>>
>>55255729
Personally, I want to buy a camera. But I'd rather have a phone with a good camera as a placeholder in the mean time. Xiaomi sounds good but I don't know about the camera + I'm unsure of the safety of these phones. Last time I got shilled a shitty phone (currently using) by my phone company so I worry about going for cheaper.

I tried it before on a different PSU.
I split 2 6-pin cables 6 ways. It booted to windows the immediately shut down. No surprise.

This is my current psu. It's a waste to not utilise the spare ports, but I cannot find any plugs that fit.
I might have to make one myself

Lately my PC has been freezing at times and having many programs become unresponsive.
After rebooting today some of my programs are unable to read config and reverted to their default state, one example in pic related.
When it is freezing and I have process explorer open, there is no spike in CPU usage or anything and I've thoroughly cleaned the PC so it shouldn't be a cryptolocker or anything, again who knows.

Notable things lately:
Clicking inside of pc case
Install of realtek audio drivers

Is my harddrive failing, what could it be /g/?

Lately, I've been interested in learning Vim. People say it takes much time to get into it but the payoff is substantial.

However, my question is: what do I do with it? My "main" language is C# but I'll probably start relearning C++ after I finish my exams. For both of those I have Visual Studio which is objectively a great IDE. Is it worth to invest time in learning Vim if I won't have much use for it? Isn't continuous practice/usage necessary to actually learn Vim?

stupid question: can you have an object as an attribute for a class in C++?

If so, how do I initialize it? I did so, but whenever I call the "new" operator the compiler says it cannot find the constructor ( it is defined).
>>
>>55256664
thank you, it's hard doing this
>>
>>55255656
pls respond my staff can't moderate the website.
>>
>>55256699
You want an instance of the class as a field of another class? Yes, you can do that.
Anyway post code.
>>
>>55256769

My block class:

class Block
{
public:
Block(int x, int y , int z, int cubesize);
Block(int x, int y , int z);

virtual ~Block();

int pos_x, pos_y, pos_z;

int cubesize;

bool alive;

void draw();

protected:

private:

int points[8];
};

My level class, which has blocks in it:

class Level
{
public:
Level();
virtual ~Level();

Block blocks[50][50];

void draw();

protected:

private:
};

Level::Level()
{
//ctor
int i,j;

for (i = 0; i< 50; i++)
{
for (j = 0; j< 50; j++)
{
this->blocks[i][j] = new Block(i, 0, j);

}
}
}

Compiler says "no matching function to call Block::Block.

I ticked the "skip network list on startup" box in hexchat.

How do i disable this?
>>
>>55256699
yes. It would be like

Class MyObject {
...
};

Class RandomClass {
private :
MyObject nameOfObject;
....
};

Then you can use this attribute normally. If you want to initialize it, you can do it on the constructor or later in a method.

If you use a pointer on an object it would be the same thing.
>>
>>55256863
do you have the constructor of Block implemented? As in Block::Block with its parameters.
>>
>>55256863
> Block blocks[50][50];
You want pointers, not the objects if you gonna use new.
Block * blocks[50][50];

And compiler is uhappy because you dont have Block constuctor with no parameters which will be called by Block blocks[50][50];
>>
So, I have this weird problem - I added 2 new hard drives to my PC and one of them showed a "drive signature collision" in Device Manager. I formatted the one accesible drive to exFAT, shut down, unplugged it and booted again, formatted the other drive to exFAT with a different name and drive letter.
Now my PC won't boot whenever either or both drives are installed (works fine w/o them). Doesn't even get to the BIOS. Dafuq?
>>
>>55256863

Use std::vector. Or if you not planning to change amount of blocks make default constuctor for Block, create them with Block blocks[50][50]; as it was before (you dont need to use new in this case), then add initializtaion function to Block and initialize blocks parameters inside level constructor.

you can't link your shopping cart, it's linked to your session.
you can't make a computer last 20 years either. hardware will fail and be obsolete way before that.

you are better off building one yourself and upgrading single parts every now and then or buying a new computer every few years.

How does the scale in Autocad work? If I set a 1:100 scale it would mean that 1cm in the drawing is a meter IRL, and I also figured that every little square in the grid equals 1 unit. But it doesn't say what that unit is, it only says "1"; Are those m or cm or what? Like if I print my drawing, how big will it be?

What's a good VPN-like tunneling solution, kinda like hamachi?

Basically I want to ssh into my computer at home but my ISP is shit and something they're doing is blocking it. I have a dynamic IP, I know I can get around that by using some service but any suggested services/programs?

I know i can just use some dynamic IP forwarding service with openvpn but would that be the best option?

While opening this to put the processor in, it somehow popped out of place. I think this stupid black cover wasn't giving it enough room to open all the way, and caused it.

Please help /g/, I've tried multiple google searches but can't seem to find this particular problem because the words involved in the search lead me to other topics.

How do I fix a cpu enclosure that has been popped out of place?
>>
>>55261039
Uhhhhhhhhhh what ?
Are you saying the black cover popped out of place ?
Because that's only there to protect the pins until you put a CPU in. It's not supposed to be there, and if you try to keep it in place you're very quickly going to regret your actions.
>>
>>55261068
I think that black cover caused the socket top piece to come out of place

can you look very closely at the hinges?
They aren't on the level like they should be, I dont' know how to slide it back into place

I know that black cover doesn't stay there

I'm trying to create a bootable Windows 7 USB installation media using an .ISO I've used numerous times in the past, but for some reason it just won't work. I've tried more times than I can count now using the following command with dd:
># dd bs=4M if=[windowsisofile] of=/dev/sdx status=progress && sync
But no matter how many times I try, I'm left with a USB drive that just goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor when I try to boot into it.

I've confirmed there's nothing wrong with the USB stick itself by successfully creating bootable media of Gahnoo/Linux distros with it.

I've also tried using the GNOME Disk Utility instead of dd to no avail. I'm guessing there's some problem with how the bootloader is being written to the drive, but I can't think what the problem would be or how to even solve it.

Any ideas?

That's the thing: They aren't. You think they are, and so you overreact because of a spooky noise and some sloppiness when it's open.

Here's a spoiler alert for you: Once you clamp it down on a CPU, it's going to sound like you're murdering everything, and it's going to feel like you're crushing the CPU. This is fine, as long as you just place it right.

Why the fuck are computer cases so ugly and oversized and stupid looking? I want something mid-tower ATX with no goddamn windows or ugly edgy gaymur styling and room for at least 1 2.5" drive and 4+ 3.5" drives, and I don't want to spend more than like $100 or maybe $125. Bonus points if it's a pretty silent case and if the hard drive bays face outward instead of towards the motherboard. My heatsink is 120mm tall and my graphics card is like 280mm long, by the way.

I currently have pic related, it's served me well for years now but the drive bay layout is pretty annoying and the graphics card blocks access to it, so I can't properly fit all my hard drives in there despite having enough bays. It's also just getting kind of old and ratty and I'm tired of looking at it.

I'm not really a huge fan of any of the suggestions I'm seeing on logicalincrements, but I guess the Antec three hundred two and the Antec P-100 are looking the best out of those choices.

Could also be the Mobo dying, in which case I'd take the opportunity to buy something newer...

So long as you don't push it that CX should be okay considering your CPU and GPU.

These Fractal cases are like two inches bigger in every dimension compared to my current Cooler Master. Has the definition of mid-tower gotten bigger or what? Are full towers big enough to sleep in?

I guess that looks pretty good though, I'm liking the layout and I guess a few more inches here and there isn't that big a deal. All these "silent" cases look like high tech minifridges, but I guess that's better than being covered in LEDs and stealthy sharp edges and stuff.

I know, but my optiplex was so cheap to throw together back in 2014 it was amazing

The optiplex was $63, Q6600 cost nothing, 8gb of was was pretty afforable, had an old 1tb barracuda lp laying around, HD7750 was like $111.
>>
>>55261735
it goes like this:
Full atx tower
mid atx tower
mid micro atx tower, shit makes no sense but it exists
and itx shoeboxes

full towers, especially the cube ones like the Corsair Airs, are about the length and height of a coffee table

I got a full tower, I love all the room in it, but mid towers are good enough

btw, mid-tower ATX cases are still not compact, just not mammoth, no matter what you pick.

If you really wanted small, you should have gone with a mATX motherboard and then you'd have options for much smaller cases
>>
>>55261739
>>55261764
I'm not sure you understand. Earlier I asked if you were using onboard video, which is just using the Motherboard's built-in GPU.
To which you said yes.
The images you posting show you having a dedicated card, the HD7750. (Therefore not Onboard)

>>55261823
Haha, Makes sense now.
Yea I was really hoping everyone here knew the difference between on-board and dedicated.
>>

If you don't have a degree, don't be afraid to get back into school. A degree isn't going to guarantee you a job at all, but it could help especially if you seize your time at the uni and make some good connections.

In the short term, if you type fast, you could get into data entry. If you don't know how touch type, take the time to practice and learn. Data Entry isn't going to be a long-term option ultimately, but just fyi only a few people in life actually have their lifelong careers by the time they're in their mid-twenties.

Also, if you have relatives and friends who work in a career field that interest you at all and you think you could do well in, suck off them like a leech. Most people in life get jobs because of family and friends, not because they're these amazing candidates with stellar credentials.

Actually, just look for a Dell Optiplex or HP Compaq on ebay.

I forget that these things are in a ton of abundance because they're usually bought in bulk for businesses and the like. Many of them should come with a Win7 product key which can be used for Win10 if he wants it.

Also fuck what that other guy says about having an i5, your dad doesn't need that shit at all. If you want to get him a fast computer, get one of those two I mentioned and look into upgrading the RAM and installing a cheap SSD from china.

Yeah, but his dad isn't going to even need an i3 processor you nitwit. He just needs a core duo or celeron processor with iGPU. Why the fuck is his dad going to need either the i3 or i5 when he could save $100 and get one with the core duo or celeron?

>>
>>55262355
Again, why the fuck is this dude's dad going to need a sandy bridge cpu if the max he's going to do is use firefox and word?

Nothing his dad will do will strain the CPU in any way. Youtube will be the biggest test the computer will face. If he wants faster performance for his dad in Firefox, Word, etc. then he will just need to upgrade the ram and maybe upgrade the HDD to a cheap SSD.

>>55262348
High ping could be because of a shitty USB wifi adapter, but it could also be because of plenty of other things, like bad internet provider, bad router or an overcrowded frquency.

First try plugging your computer directly in your router and check your ping. If it does get better, a PCIe adapter might help you
>>
>>55262485
I was backing up my claim that you couldn't build a pc for less than it would take to buy a prebuild for the same specs.

You might also notice that I mentioned that core 2 quad systems can be had on the used market for $30. Not that it matters, I don't know why you're arguing that his dad "doesn't need a sandy bridge cpu". You were just recommending building a pc (with a godawful celeron) for over $200 (and no legit copy of windows). Are you really gonna try to argue about wasting money here?

Okay, I think I've figured out what I need to do, but there's one problem - it requires software only available on Windows... which I don't have.

I suddenly remembered that last time I did this (years ago now) I had trouble getting it to work, and that for some reason by using the "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool" I was able to create a bootable USB of Windows 7 when no other tools would work.

I tried firing up the program in Wine, but unfortunately it seems that Wine is unable to detect USB drives. I tried googling for "wine usb" but wasn't able to find anything useful.

If anyone knows how I could get this to work, I would greatly appreciate it.
