Is there a modern replacement for the Thinkpad x220 i7 processor, IPS display, 9 cell battery, slice battery(amounting to 20hs battery life),custom BIOS, windows/linux dualboot, replaceable, fixable, relatively cheap monster laptop? No gaming, just highly reliable work.Be honest, no fanaticism, I just want the ice cold truth.

that would be perfect, don't know if you can do it, but I would buy it without hesitation

I'm typing on a T400 as we speak, and it is worth mentioning that the 1440x900 TN panel is TERRIBLE.
Come on /g/. don't give up on this, I never see these specs discussed, not even in the /tpg/

There is no "modern" replacement for the thinkpad, you dingus. Since the thinkpad itself is not a laptop you could ever get a consumer market at a reasonable price.
You would have to hunt for used Workstation/Business laptops if you want Thinkpad alternatives.

Fine, take away the price issue. What's the alternative in purely technological terms?

A new Thinkpad, I guess. X250 is quite nice with the extended batterypack. Gives me around 12 hours per charge. I'm using it for tasks like Spreadsheets, Word, Outlook and Lightroom. So that's quite ok.

was thinking about getting one, what sort of battery life can you get in Arch or Fedora or something like that?
