In general when something with no moving parts gets as cheap as something with moving parts it will take.
As as soon as SSDs are the same price per GB as an HDD they will become king. In the past year we got to the point where an SSD will out live a HDD even for more intensive tasks. They run faster, quieter, use less power and are cooler even under high load. There is literally zero benefit to an HDD once $/GB is equal.

Like others have said, it will happen once the price per GB is down to about the same. I see it happening within the next 5 years or so. We are already starting to see the 480GB drives starting to go down.

No. At least not as fast as the enthusiast market. It will eventually happen, but waaaaay down the line.
