Using MSI Afterburner for frame control, monitoring and recording on a 7950. Works just peachy.
GCN 1.0 has a pretty weak version of VCE anyway. Expect it to slash 60 FPS down to 40-45, and 30 if you want Vsync. Later versions of GCN are vastly improved in that regard.

my 280x has gotten so much better over the years. It was such a disappointment when I first got it. From initially lagging on Bioshock Infinite and BSOD on Titanfall, to now maxing MGSV and DOOM 4 with virtual superresolution enabled.
How much would a used 280x go for these days? Thinking of utilizing crossfire and waiting a couple more generations for a new GPU.
