What monitor and graphics card would you guys recommend?

I want to get a 30+ inch ultrawide monitor and a graphics card capable of running any game maxed out in full resolution.

budget $2000aud, but will stretch if absolutely necessary

Please enlighten me
>>
you will need like double that amount.

I would like to clarify, the $2000 budget is for the monitor and graphics card alone (and will stretch). This budget assumes I have all other PC components covered.

how do those look with gaymes that don't support that aspect ratio?
>>
>>54907417

no worries, 1k for monitor and 1k for gpu essentially

>>54907471
i have no idea how they look with games that dont support aspect ratio, i assume they have black bars on the sides maybe? that might be a consideration in my purchase. if most games dont support these new ultrawide monitors maybe i would be better off getting a regular aspect monitor. i want something that is large and good for gaming though.
>>
>>54907212
You will need more money then that, kek, stop dreaming.

please refer to this

The way game engines work everything can be moded or hacked to work on these babies.
>>
>>54907578
yes, 2k for a GPU and monitor to run 30inch monitor, at a good resolution, at least 1440p running shit at ultra? You can't with 2k.
>>
>>54907471
Depends what you want to do. You could try and force it to scale, but it ends up looking incredibly strange when the game runs at a native res like 1080 or 1440 but then is just stretched. Doesn't look right.

I for one turn on 1:1 pixel mapping on my monitor and run the games at 2560x1440. Black bars on left and right, but no weird aspect ratio issues. But for games that do run at the native 3440x1440 resolution; holy shit. Stellaris' galaxy map for example at that res is fucking fantastic. I love all of the space it gives.

really?

i am referring to:
Samsung S34E790C 34in Ultrawide Curved LED Monitor @ $1050
Gigabyte 1080GTX 8GB edition @ $1100

on pccasegear.com

my budget is based on those prices

what is your recommended budget?
>>
>>54907595

yeah that sounds amazing, what is your monitor and gpu?
>>
>>54907623
Am I stupid or that's 150 bucks over 2k?
Next time give a +/-
>>
>>54907658

well i did say twice that i 'will stretch price if necessary'.

and my requirements are only to simply 'play games at max resolution on a 30+inch monitor'
>>54907212
>>54907398

but my budget is at $2000 because i would like to get a great experience for under that price if possible, but im willing to pay extra for things like gsync, curved, etc if its really worth the extra cash

i could have provided other references which are well under $2000 for example:

LG 34UM68-P 34in Ultrawide $699
MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti $899

do you understand what i am asking? just for general recommendations and advice. my budget and requirements are loosely defined.

>>54907658
im really looking for best value for money
>>
you wont get an ultra wide 30"+ and GPU that can support it for 2 grand

try 3
>>
>>54907763

sigh.

are you saying that: Gigabyte 1080GTX 8GB edition @ $1100

wont support: LG 34UM68-P 34in Ultrawide $699

maxed out??

(cost $1800)
>>
>>54907763

my budget is now $4000

$2000 for monitor
$2000 for GPU

i would like to get BEST VALUE FOR MONEY

provide recommendations!

pfft
>>
>>54907859

ffs, the new budget is basically just to stop people saying that you wont get it for under $2000, when clearly you will. budget 3-4grand but as close to 2grand as possible.

I don't know if you gathered this yet, but people who are saying that you can't run an ultrawide monitor with a 2000$ budget are just fucking with you.

Tbqh senpai I've always wanted the Acer Predator X34. g-sync, 3840(I think?)x1440p 34 inch screen. Looks neat imo. Heard good things about Samsung and LG ultrawide as well. A single 980ti runs most gaymes(assuming thats what you want to do) at very playable fps. Lookup some ultrawide benchmarks with various graphics cards. If you look for sales and don't be a moron (see slickdeals.net) you can easily enjoy this for 2000$ possibly less.
>>
>>54908802
Side note to that, if you absolutely can't wait for more vendors to make their own, most likely better versions of the 1080 then get it, but I'd rather have an evga titan x or 980ti. They have good warranty options.

I wanted an ultra wide monitor but I don't know if my autism can handle black bars. I'll probably have to just check it out for myself. I'm a normie so none of my friends have any of this kind of shit.
>>
>>54909456
I don't understand the hate for black bars, what's the difference between a black bar or a black bezel. Also if you see black bars you still see normal ratio and shit, but when they're not there, you're getting a bigger than regular view. I'd personally want one because you can put 3 "documents" side by side, when you only do 2 on 16:9
>>
>>54907471
black bar on the sides and will play 16:9. that's what overwatch does anyways.
>>
Pick your video card first, then your monitor. This is important because Nvidia refuses to implement FreeSync and instead only uses their proprietary Gsync (which costs significantly more to add to a monitor). So if you've got an AMD card, get a FreeSync monitor. If you've got an Nvidia, get a Gsync monitor.

Personally, I've got the Acer XR341CK (FreeSync). It has a counterpart, the Acer Predator X34 (Gsync) as well. As far as I'm aware, those two monitors along with the Asus ROG SWIFT are the only ones that are 1440p, higher than 60 Hz, and larger than 30".
>>
>>54907212
My recommendation is to actually get the 100hz 21:9 monitor (acer x34) and then get as good of a GPU as you possible can (gtx 1080 when the price drops). The 100hz makes a HUGE difference, 100hz on medium will look/play/feel much better than 60hz on ultra. Regardless, a 1080 should be able to near max games at 3440x1440 so you get the best of both worlds if you just wait for it to come down in price. The x34 has gsync regardless, so even if it dips to 60-80hz on ultra the motion still looks smooth and nice

>>54911982
Oh and I'm going to go ahead and tell you to get a monitor arm along with that monitor because the stand it comes with is fucking HUGE and takes up an absurd amount of desk space. They're much better on a monitor arm, and it's well worth the $50.
