Upgrading Win7 to Win10 for a 80 Person Business.
What are the pros & cons?
>>54816984
I hope you not the one doing it if you can't figure it out yourself

Win 10 is the future

>>54816984
Pros. None.
Cons. Botnet, new learning curve, a fuckload of time spend upgrading.
Pretty much the only thing Win 10 has going for it is DX12, and I doubt you need that at a business.
As someone who just downgraded from 10 back to 7 I would say do it. I mean if you like all of your privet information being collected by them and selling it to third parties. Also down grading is a bitch. I bought 7 pro legitimately FROM MICROSOFT box and all and they tried to claim my OS key was only an upgrade key for the Korean version.... Had to clean install modify command prompt so it would take and it registered automatically like normal. I was that close to accepting Linux into my life.
>>54816984
what's the business?
do you have any legacy hardware?
do you have new hardware or software in addition to the new OS?
>>54816984
only do it if you're going to be using the enterprise versions.
if you're going to be using pro not bother.
>>54817314
if he's buying an 80ish key license (not sure what size he's really getting, maybe 100?), they should be recommending enterprise at nearly every step of the purchase process.
>>54816984
Pros: fast boot times, and ribbon in Explorer.
Cons: spies on you.
>>54817341
enterprise version + disable all that shit for the average user + local accounts = almost perfect, euro version the least botnet
>>54816984
>>54817052
>>54817230
Why are the default settings "full botnet"?

the automatic connection to open hotspots was always defaulted to "off" for me, strange.

All of these settings are there just so users can feel like they have some control over their computer while in reality they have next to none.
This is supposed to be the professional version, so why are cancerous smartphone apps and all that other trash preinstalled?
>>54817501
Wait for this:
>We'll come back when we are done

jesus christ how horrifying
Introducing microsoft wifi, what the hell

not an ad, it's already installed. it can be disabled though

FREE
>>54817504
candy crush, "get office" are really the only two things that need to be removed as bloat, the rest on that screen should just be ads or links to installation at the store. unpin all that shit and you can shrink the start bar down to a more "classic" look
>>54817504
>>54817538

Come back with better bait anon
>>54817556

Nice argument!
Why is the lock/login screen the same on desktops and tablets?
>>54817587
you can change it in settings, like screensavers. it's just baked into the lock screen now.
you can use custom images or solid colors too.
>>54816984
I's crap. Stick with 7.
>>54817587
Consistency

You do know there's a version made for the people who browse /g/, right? You're incredibly stupid beyond belief.

>not doing your research
>actually believing in the botnet meme
>>54817610
wew lad
>>54817673
I'm not that anon, but "get office" app is installed by default on every consumer copy of windows
>>54817679
That's the Enterprise version.
>>54817610
Why is this part of a professional windows version
>>54817700
Pro is more "Prosumer"
if you want business, get enterprise.

Why is this ad preinstalled?
>>54817694

You're supposed to be using Enterprise LTSB N.
>>54817743
So not all enterprise are not actually enterprise?
>>54817734
The official iso that was released in November 2015
>>54817743
>have to reinstall for every release
>>54817743
I had the LTSB as well, it's not any better. It doesn't have the candy crush -tier nonsense anymore but it's still a dumbed down OS
>>54817736
it's mostly to encourage people to explore the Store app and get used to digital purchases across all types of software, not just games. some people are still surprised that Office in retail stores is just a code on cardboard now.
Why is this preinstalled
>>54817773
Pic of it. It's somewhat better but not that much better.
Why is the default video player basically an ad?
>>54817801
I said LTSB N, not LTSB.
There's a huge difference between the two versions.
>>54817825
That's actually LTSB N x86. The only difference in N is that you don't have WMP
>>54817825

>>54817848
pro level damage control still has ads, upgrade to enterprise level
>>54817848
She never posted a pic of it with ads. I'm literally using it right now and I haven't gotten a single ad.
>>54817254
W8 filesystem is improved over 7 and w10 has that too so its slightly faster. Also they can open rar and zip files and mount iso files without 3rd party software.

Yeah, just make these few obvious registry entries, whats your problem ;^)
There's now a shortcut to windows defender aka MSE in the old control panel for some reason
>>54817979
it goes away if your antivirus disables defender properly.
>>54817979
What a hodgepodge of design languages.
>>54818027
it's like an archeological dig back to the XP era
You can't turn off error reporting or "automatic maintenance" anymore.
WinX is alright from the private, average user standpoint. Basically the windows version of osx.
In a professional or enthusiast capacity, it's pretty shit due to being clunky, bloated, and inefficient. Not to mention the confusing way that the navigation works.
Who thought this was a good idea
>>54818200
mine is still the same yellow color, what happened?
>>54818233

Nope, it's the preview build.

I don't get it.

UAC now looks different
Looks like you can throw away those cheap tablets really soon!
>>54818287
then submit reports
that's the whole point of the preview build

It's not a bug
>>54818381
Looks ugly, buttons look out of place and text is too large.
>>54818416
So what will happen with people who 'upgraded' and now don't meet the new requirements anymore?

No updates, but nagging to "learn more about great new windows PCs"

they allow opinions about the UI to be sent in, that was how they decided on a lot of icons early on.

7 is pretty good, don't you think?
>>54818788

This guy knows his shit. Dubs confirm.
>>54818859
that design is timeless and good. the modern flat design style used in windows looks awful, and I hear there isn't even a classic theme anymore.
>>54817501
Windows 8 was notorious for this as well.

Isn't all this shit done through scheduler as it was in win7? Will this stop if you disable and remove it? Same goes for updates.
>>54819643
No idea, but you can't really disable updating at all
>>54819654

Is it part of the kernel now? Well, off with the kernel then!
