Hunting for a new phone and I am considering S7 edge, only thing is that it costs more then my fucking car....
Last phone held up for 5 years (iphone 4) and i hope for the same with the new one. Is the s7 any durable or just a fragile leaf?

Hi im about to get Xiaomi phone, i wonder if should i go for redmi 3, or redmi note 3, previously wanted get nokia 1520 because of battery life, big screen and windows phone, but seems WP is quite dead now. Maybe you can recommend me something?

Redmi 3 has better battery and camera. RNP3 has better performance and bigger screen. decide what's more important for you.

My xperia is now almost 3 years old and no longer up to date. I plan on buying a new phone this year and for regular updates I'd like a nexus phone. I currently use my phone with cm and no gapps. Is the same thing possible for the nexus phones? Does google provide images with no gapps preloaded?

Is the Oneplus X the best price to performance ratio phone in the 5-5.2 inch area with a decent developer community?

I currently have a Oneplus One and I want a phone with a smaller screen and I don't know if getting the OPX is worth it since it's got exactly the same specs as my OPO but with a better screen, SD card slot and better build quality, or if I should wait for something newer to be released, but I doubt there's going to be any phone released for under $200 any time soon with that performance.

My OPO still runs snappy with Sultans CM13 ROM and he started making the ROM for the OPX so I don't think futureproofing is the issue, and the battery life on my OPO has taken a nosedive and I lose more than 10% an hour even while barely using the phone.

how small can a phone be while being comfortably held with two hands in portrair, with each hand comfortably gripping a side? i'm thinking somewhere between 6.x - 8 inches. i know 8 inches is comfortable but i'd like smaller and lighter. 5.5 is just too small but i'm afraid anything bigger would be fatiguing from extra weight. i'd really like to see a sub 150 gram 7 inch with high screen to body ratio. anybody else want bigger lighter phones?

>If requesting purchasing advice, please provide your country and what carrier you will be using it with, along with wanted features, budget and size.

Your country: England
Carrier: EE
Wanted features: I have iPhone 5 currently so having a feature at all is a bonus. Would like good Speaker if possible nothing audiophile, just loud and clear. A decent camera is fine no real interest in a front camera so no priority but having one is a bonus. I'd like the battery to last at least a day with general internet browsing while playing audio. For the most of days. Occasional video playback via internet too.
Budget: Nothing crazy was looking at the Mi 5, looks pretty good for price.
Size: Anything like my current iPhone 5, or like the SE. Previous phone to that was Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic. I like light and not bordering tablet size screens.

Would also like to know how dual sim functions, if I have say a UK Sim and some kind of Euro sim will it auto swap itself or do I change a setting to swap it in the phone?

>>54793518
they're really good from z3 and onwards, the earlier ones are a bit iffy. The X looks awesome and the best to date. If you want a cheap one, you can't go wrong with a z3c

Sony imho is really being real with their design, by including an SD card slot and not going for the big-screen meme, they've learned the sweetspot is 4.7 or 5 inches. I'd give their phones 10/10 if they only had removable batteries, but then again who does that these days so who can fault them?
>>

>>
UK here, where prices are always shit.

>>
>>54793518
I have a Z5C and in my experience it's really bad.

Whenever I do online shopping (which involves Google searching, new tabs, viewing videos, and loading images) things get really sluggish (gets pretty hot too). Maybe phones weren't made for this kind of use. Homescreen redraws pop up every now and then (this was also prevalent in my N5, but that thing redrew the homescreen almost every other time i hit the back button). Sometimes it takes more than a few seconds to load the Settings page. Sometimes if I view too many videos or browse too many images my Z5C completely freezes up on me then restarts itself. Other times I would tap the back button, but it doesn't respond, so I tap it again and once I tap it again it registers the first tap and so it ends up activating the back button twice (REALLY annoying). Same thing happens with the Power button. If I press it to turn on the screen, it wouldn't register. So I would press it again, but then it registers the first press and then the second one so the screen turns on for a second then turns right off again because it registered both presses.

That aside, the Z5C is wonderful. They default launcher is great. It's simple and elegant. I also like the control I have over audio equalizer settings. The Xperia Music app is also great. I love the compilations that Movie Creator makes. Love SDCard support. It's a great media playback device. I also love the size of the Compact series. I tried using my Nexus 5 and it's not even comfy in my hand anymore. (With that said though, I know I just need a week to get used to a 5" screen. I do miss it sometimes when watching videos). The camera is great too. The battery life is amazing though -- that's the main reason why I'm holding onto my Z5C.

Would I get another Z5C? No, it is way too frustrating.

Do all AMOLED screens have that awful burn-in issue I see on a lot of Galaxy S5s?
>>

No. This issue affects only old generation screens. My S5 was bought in release day and I don't have any burn-ins. To be honest I didn't hear S5 having this issue. S4, S3 yeah, but not S5.

Also, my mother is still using Galaxy S3 (which was also bought in release day) and no burn-ins here aswell.

With newer Phones, like S6 and forward, there is absolutely no chance to have it. This issue is a meme now. Forget about it. AMOLED screen is only a big plus in a phone.

I've kind of been thinking of buying a new phone since my galaxy s5 mini is not holding up too well. Some apps like snapchat are kind of laggy at times and the phone reboots itself quite often which is annoying.

A new store that opens in my town tomorrow will have some sales, they will have a sony xperia m5 for 300 euros, a galaxy s5 neo for 250. Do you think these would be decent upgrades? I will lose the fingerprint scanner with both of these options, but I get to keep water resistance and I should get much better performance with both of these. The cameras and screen should also be significantly better in both. I would also like to receive software updates, I'm currently on 5.1.1 with my s5 mini and I would like to get at the very least android 6.

How much of the "samsung cripples their phones on purpose when the new model comes out" meme is true?
I'm can't decide between the xperia x premium and the s7, but I've been leaning toward the s7 until I tried an S6 edge for three days, and it was always stuttering while scrolling or opening the multitask window. Pretty much every animation was stuttering at least a little bit, it was definitely nowhere near 30fps.
Did I just have a faulty model or something? Is this something I should expect from the s7 a year from now?

>>
>>54800443
The xperia Z is an old phone mang. It has a tft screen, no ac wifi, a small camera sensor with a small aperture, and no marshmallow. I think these alone are worth the upgrade, so you should do it even if you don't care about muh benchmarks. It also has a small battery, and newer processors are supposed to be much more energy efficient, so you'll get better battery life out of most current gen phones.
I personally wouldn't buy a non waterproof phone now, but if the 1+2 is your only option you should still go for it

Water resistance should really be an industry standard instead of gimmick shit like muh fingerprint botnet sensors.
>>54801297
I couldn't care less about the front facing camera, but the rear one is kind of a big deal for me. If there's a difference in the former, it's most likely because the camera software itself is noticably different, so there's probably a difference in the main camera performance as well.

Any websites out there that maintain an SOC CPU performance hierarchy side by side of all the variants kirin, exynos, snapdragon, tegra, cortex, etc. It gets tedious looking through benchnarks and trying to find specific comparisons if somebody just stripped the pertitnent bits out and put them into an updated hierarchy, similar to tom's cpu and gpu hierarchy but for arm instead.

I suppose having such info would be against the blind consumerism they encourage of cyclically buying current flagship...

Traded back the HTC10 for the S7 edge. If you're on the fence there is no comparison. HTC10 has a shit camera. Not a good camera, not an OK camera, a SHIT camera. The screen looks great but only in doors. Outside you can't see shit on it and it's not that bright. Also battery life sealed the deal, I got at max 3-4 SOT even after trying all the different Roms.

The only thing the 10 has going for it is the unlocked bootloader w/ Roms. But still I don't want to be fooling with that shit everyday. Quick charge 3.0 was nice I'll give them that.

Yeah. I have z5c too. Its nice and compact. The screen is good. The problems you listed have not shown up on my device. Overheating is a problem on heavy usage. On the plus side battery recharges super fast. The compact series comes with 2 gigs of ram tho. The phone is just dandy. What i hate is the fucking onscreen permanent buttons. The shit screen could be OK if the fucking os would hide the fucking nav bar. Just drives me crazy
>>
>>54803311
Yeah, ergonomics is an "autistic midget criteria".Why don't you just get an iPad pro and use that with one hand and get a cheap shitty phone for phone calls if ergonomics are irrelevant?
>>
On the topic of one hand phone use, I don't find any size phone to be particularly comfortable for one hand.

Before you cry manlet, I'm 6'2". I just measured my hand dimensions which are: ~8" from top to bottom, ~4 1/4" across and my thumb is maybe a hair under ~2.5". I have medium sized hands I'd say. I'm also quite dexterous and athletic. I played basketball a lot as a kid growing up, I don't by any means have fumbly hands.

For reference, I have in my possession two phones, an LG G3 and an Iphone 5. The Iphone 5 has a 4" screen and I don't find it to be any more comfortable to use one handed than my LG G3, with a 5.5" screen. I find both to be tedious to use one handed and I prefer holding the phones one handed in landscape and using both hands to type with my thumbs. The problem with a small phone is the keys are so damn tiny it actually makes one handed use just as tedious as a bigger phone.

The only real limitation I find is the screen which I actually prefer were bigger. I can't imagine a 7" phone being much harder to hold in my hand than a 5.5" phone, provided they focused on keeping the phone as light as possible with as good a screen to body ratio as possible. I think that not only could I hold such a phone in one hand without much issue but it could also open up the potential for using it two handed in portrait mode. My only question is if 7" is big enough to hold in two hands as I find at 5.5" on my LG G3, my hands overlap too much to comfortable hold two handed in portrait.

So I'd really like to see bigger phones, if anything. The current 5.x size range is too small. Before you start spouting "tablet" keep in mind, nobody is really making flagship tablets anymore besides apple and I fucking hate iOS and I think their Ipad mini might be a hair too big and heavy to really use one handed. I had a 9.7" Ipad for a while as well and that was too big to use for anything.

The Galaxy S6 Active does not have a durable screen, it has 3 fracture points along the edge that regularly break within the first week of a person owning the phone. The warranty doesn't cover that damage either, as it's not a 'manufacturing fault' and the screen is only rated for drops of 3 inches. yes, INCHES. Don't fall for the meme. oh, and it's cheaper to just buy a new GS6A than to replace the screen.

Not to mention there's still no root, though there is a $1K pot going for it. The GS6A is a mediocre phone at best and not nearly as durable as it should be for the price. Samsung knows this and secretly won't stand behind any of it's talk of durability.

Also the waterproofing is only rated for up to a meter, and there have been people who claim to have the phone just stop working because of water damage. Also not covered by warranty.

Stop shilling this shitty phone.
