Im installing my PC and everything is going fine but im a little confused with the GPU. I put the 8 pin connector in the PSU, and now do i have to put in the 6+2 (the other end of the 8 pin) in the GPU and thats it? Or do i need to put another cable in the 6 pin right next to it?

Its an msi r9 390 by the way

>>
>>54765945
So the gpu has one 8 pin connector and one 6 pin? Yes than you need to use your 6+2 cable from the psu for the 8 pin connector and use a 6 pin cable from the psu to connect the other one. It's ok if you use another 6+2 cable for the 6 pin connector.

I don't want to use youtube anymore, what is a good alternative that won't track you?
>>
>>54766174
Depends on what you use youtube for. If you use it to follow youtubers, then you're out of luck. However, if you want a video hosting site to just post your videos in, there are plenty of alternatives. Vimeo is okay for one.

>Is it possible to browse youtube without them collecting info off me

Yeah, pretty possible. Use something which blocks specific connections like umatrix, a hosts file, ghostery, privacy badger etc. and block google's connections. Also, use an addon for your browser which destroys cookies after you're done using them, so google can't spy on you through that either.
>>

Reposting again, still hoping for reply.

What could prevent certain Pascal/Fortran programs from starting at all under Windows 8.1 N with installed Media Pack?

Said programs start and work just fine under 7 and 10, all three x64, on 8.1 they dont start at all, "start x.exe" under cmd dont even produce a single error message, just nothing happens.

Thank you for replies, like always.

>>54767453
let's try something else.
make two new columns (like K and L) next to your formula which holds both row numbers incremented by 24.
this you can create by just dragging down, here your increment will be honored by excel.

then use with INDIRECT like
=AVERAGE(INDIRECT("D" & K8 & ":D" & L8))

I really need to step up my excel game, because I had to copy paste the formula even if I undestand what you're doing.

Works perfectly, not as pretty as doing it with a single formula because of those two columns for increments but way better than doing it manually.

Love you, have a great day.

windows servers aren't free, so you can't just pick one and install it.
the different versions are about hardware limitations, how many cpus you can use etc.
all of them come with IIS and some web functions, but the bigger players like sql server or exchange are a separate product again.

Honestly on Windows I'm not too sure, but for any linux distro there's already programs to do this for you almost seamlessly (pssh, clusterit, clusterssh and quite a few others). If you're just experimenting with scripting, the best bet is just to wait it out to try it yourself on your non toaster PC. Also, your servers would be alot safer if you use keys instead of passwords, just saying :3

i thought that deluge has that feature becouse in most torrent clients 0 means unlimited, in deluge -1 means unlimited so i thought that when i set it to 0 it won't send anything but it still does, sometimes only a little bit but sometimes it uses my full up speed, i read that there are clients deliberately programmed to make it seem to the seeds that you are sending data so they still send you the file but don't actually share anything.

Hello /SQT/ I've got a problem. It's killing me slowly. A little over a month ago, I had a water cooling disaster that fried my motherboard. I fixed it by buying a new motherboard (MSI 970A SLI Krait), as it was on sale at microcenter & my old one was out of warranty. Several weeks after this purchase, the thing shorted out for an unknown reason (burnt looking shit near VRM). I returned the motherboard, and realized after I put it back together that it took my CPU with it. Returned the CPU (AMD FX 8320), and now I've got it in a state where it boots properly and runs for about 2 minutes before the screen just goes black. I just tested the GPU & it works, and it happens regardless of whether in Windows or in my BIOS. Please help me

They are refurbished. They were fucked up and they fixed them. Allegedly Apple has nice quality standards for the refurbishing, and they do the refurbishing of their products themselves, so it should be fine if you're good with that.

Most of the times they were barely used. People just had them for like a week and then refunded them or whatever. Then they can't sell them as new, so they just clean them and flash them and they technically are refurbished.

So if I have a 5V current that will burn out an LED (or so this instructional kit tells me), but if I use a 220 ohm resistor that makes it ok.

When I put 3 LEDs in series they are very dim, and 4 in series they aren't even visibly lit.

If I remove the resistor, will it provide enough power to light the LEDs, or will it burn out the first in series then break the circuit?
>>
>>54771153
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Series_and_parallel_circuits

In a series circuit, the current through each of the components is the same, and the voltage across the circuit is the sum of the voltages across each component.

My 1.5 year old HTC One M8 has recently had problems charging. My OEM cable just slips out of the port on my phone and can't connect to it, so I can't use it anymore. After cleaning out the phone's port with a toothpick, even if I connect my phone to charge, it won't always light up and say that it's charging. I need to fiddle around with the cord until the phone says it is, and 9 times out of 10, the phone doesn't even charge with the orange light on. Even when it's "charging," the phone sometimes even disconnects itself from the cord without me touching it and I end up losing battery.

Is there any other way to fix this, or do I need to replace the charging port, the battery or even the phone? I've tried several other working USB cables (one of them brand new) with the OEM wall charger and they all have the same issue.

It means that the server has a self signed certificate. Self signed certificate means there is no trusted root certificate backing it up. Depends how much do you care about your perfomance in games.

Good PSU>Decent motherboard>I5>GPU>Rest of the build
Spend your budget in that order.
>>
>>54771426
Just install W7 Ultimate, that computer is too good to use XP, its not that weak/old.

Just like all samsungs have been the last few years
They have the specs, but lack the software. And dont even think about buying it if you are carrier locked.

Should I get an mini atx + mini atx case if I'm just looking for a decent but relatively small desktop? Mini ATXs are pretty cheap and I'm not sure if all the extras from a full ATX would benefit me.

At most, I'm probably just gonna use it for very moderate gaming, usually games that can run on modern toasters, unlike my current POS.

Aren't Emacs Lisp's generalized variables akin to pattern matching? Or am I missing something? I haven't looked into Haskell in forever and don't have the mental coherence to read up on it in full detail right now

How do I get started with a home lab or home server? Everyone says if I want to be a sysadmin I should have one, but I can't even figure out what they're for or why I would need one. I don't make websites and I don't have enough data to even fill my laptop.

What would a homelab/home server be for?

Is there simple proxy server that just displays all requests?

I'm gonna download some movies from a flash movie player, and I guess the simples way of getting the links to the raw files is just sending everything through a proxy

I'm trying to find free hosting so I can run a skype resolver, Is there anyone who hosts free windows servers?
It doesn't need to be fast or good, this is not resource intensive at all.

I /think/ I can get it working in linux, but I haven't actually tried it yet.
So, I guess someone hosting a linux box would work also.

Anyone suggestions?

You appear to be trying to change your boot settings, there is no reason to do this with memory.
When you slot in new modules your system will either see it and use it or not.

Rigtht click 'Computer' or 'This PC', select properties and screenshot the window that shows up

Whats it called when you upgrade hardware continuously without having the firmware to support it. Usually its used again people who think you could have a console or a phone and just upgrade the parts, complete brain fart and don't even know what to google to find it.

planned obsolescence

Its to do with continuously upgrading specific parts instead of having a new device.

I removed my stock cooler with thermal paste and wiggled the cpu a little. I touched the thermal paste on the edges a little bit. Then i put everything back in place.

Is this going to do any harm? Are my skins oils going to mess up the thermal paste? Can i even put the cooler back on without cleaning the thermal paste off and putting new paste on?
>>
>>54775496
Would it be stovepiping or something to do with legacy term?
>>
>>54775556
Its not good practice, but you arent going to have problems arise from it.
If its old paste, I would replace it just because its old.
>>
>>54775607
Its pre applied thermal paste from the stock cooler. Put it on today so its as good as new. I would clean it off and put some arctic silver on it but i dont have any cleaning alcohol or stuff.
>>
>>54775556
Why did you decide to even do this in the first place?
>>
>>54775659
Cheap or stock thermal paste nowadays is pretty good. You probably wouldnt even see a difference in temps going to AS5 at stock speeds.

Whats the model number.
Depends on how good it actually was, and when you got it.

Some are worthy of a little upgrade to keep them going. A lot arent.

Yes its a great candidate to put a moderate video card and new power supply in.
Its up to you how much to spend though. You arent going to really bottleneck the CPU with a decent card.

The amazon ones are shit, but they work. I have bought 3 different ones for different PCs and have worked perfectly fine.
