Those Benrus/Omegas being sold via eBay from Guyana are pretty obviously being used for money laundering imo, the same guy has all kinds of preposterous items listed at such values. Clearly criminal associates of the 100% authentic Nigerian Prince variety are bidding on these items which have the same pictures, paying him, and he's then forwarding the money on their behalf

Pains me to see Orient make things like that. I know they can and do make good stuff, so why do this
>>
>>54750661
As it turns out, I paid too much. I originally won the auction for a little over 28,000 yen or $330 Canadabux, but then Buyee inexplicably charged me in British Pounds, I had to pay their fees, I had to pay shipping, and then I got keked by Canadian customs. So in the end I'm into it for a lot more than I originally anticipated. Still a good deal compared to the ~$650 you'd be paying on eBay, but not a screaming bargain by any stretch.

>>54750392

atomic and solar, an improvement over the regular 5600; 5600 square style is less of an eyesore and not as fuckhuge as the 6900/other styles which have been widely adopted by niggers and mall ninjas.

Seconds can go offf sync sometimes.

Buttons are not easily accessible. Light button is hard to press with gloves.

Sides of the casing are not screwed, so they end up widening and leaving a gaping hole on both sides you have to superglue.

I'd say the 5000 1JF is objectively better

In other news I got a D in orgo II. I need a C so I'll be forced to retake another semester of hell in this literal autist class.

My grades were otherwise good though so I'm thinking of getting these.

i like the ae1200 best but i would strongly recommend the resin version, i bought the bracelet version last year and it didn't take long before the "steel" started chipping away, it's just painted resin. the actual bracelet is extremely flimsy and terrible as well.

Its well built, the compass and thermometer are spot on even with the spring temperature deviations (30 C in the sun 18 in the shade) and even though its a bit colourful with the dark blue/grey/orange combo, its still not gaudy. relax I'm just breaking balls

the bracelet feels really cheap and hollow, a lot of rattling when your wrist moves. dropped it a few times its like there are bent links now if that makes sense, the clasp area was bent too so you have to sort of bend it back to close the clasp and it's prone to fly open on you. also scuffs ridiculously easily as well.

sort of hard to see in the pic but you can see it doesn't sit flush at rest

The movement in this guide is dirt cheap and very easy to find, it has some advice on buying tools, but I think you should buy some cheap ones first. I have an old mechanical seiko that I will give you for a beer ($3, just pay shipping) it's a Indian piece of shit but the movement would be fine to practice on that is why I bought it, but I don't find the time these days

Hey /wt/, do you guys think I could screwdriver-wind a Seiko movement that has the "magic lever" system, or will that kill the pawl levers/reduction wheel?

Pic related, 7009A, the movement in question.

I've seen Spencer K. do it on 6309 and 610X movements without any problems, and i don't think there should be much of an issue.

I'm actually amazed by it's quality, it shouldn't be different from the original desu.
I honestly hate Denzel Washington and quartz fashion watches but for 4€ you can't do anything wrong, plus it's not for me but for my gf who mentioned once she likes the design of this watch. I wouldn't ever want to be caught dead wearing this desu.
For a normie girl is totally acceptable though.

The syllabus said that he curves the class avg to a 75. Which is actually very low for the 2nd hardest undergrad class. A 40 in Yale is an A in their orgo classes.
What the syllabus doesn't say is that he fucking drops the low end of the curve. So if the class avg is a 50 he inflates it to a fucking 70, avoiding having to give us a curve.
After the first exam 2/3rds of the class dropped dispute the avg being a "75".

I earn fuck all, but have ample money for watches, but I usually spend my money on clothes. Just don't have kids, don't go on lavish holidays, don't buy assets that decrease in value substansially (cars) and don't get loans (House is an exception) and you will have heaps of disposable income

Investment is a decent way to obtain money for watches imo. Obviously you would have to look at the market but buying real estate can net you a $10000 increases in a matter of months. Stock , bonds and securities, I won't go into those

Not that applicable to someone in your line of work, but I know tradesmen who do cash jobs on the weekends and buy stupid stuff with the money, they get a few mates around and shout them beers and make $1000 in a day

>You can't just unscrew it and put in a new one? I see BMW fags do it all the time with gaudy skull shift knobs and shit.

oh yeah, the only aftermarket "mod" on my car is the delrin-like shift knob I got from one of those ricer stores at chinatown malls

>Also it's a good watch but it eats batteries. Also might be kinda big

yeah, I'm more worried about the size than anything else. how long do the batteries in these bulova movements normally last?

About three years, google tells me.

We don't really like kenetics because the caps blow after a while.
Decent although mall tier watches though
>>
>>54774822
You don't have an adventure time watch either. You have an adventure time app.
>>
>>54780300
Your Thinkpad is fine. Kinetics are kind of redundant.

Already have a meme watch and looking to buy another, thinking of getting a steinhart ocean one or gmt. Though I'm not quite certain whether the gmt is worth an extra 100. I'd have a use for the gmt hand since my mom lives in America, but then again I might as well just do the math in my head.

what do you guys think of Junkers watches?
>>
>>54781431
They have a solid reputation and look nice
>>
>>54776173
Depends on the father, and your budget, a white sarb on a bracelet, springbar tool and tan strap would be a combo many, but not all fathers would appreciate, for example.

My father has a couple of Seiko/Citizen on the 300 bucks range and he only wears the terrorist watch.
