Buying a phone, primary concern is battery life. Budget cannot handle a major purchase like the S7.

After research, currently considering:
-Motorola X Play
-Oppo R9 Plus
-Huawei Mate 8 (leaning to this the most atm)
-Samsung A9 Pro (not yet released)
-Samsung A7
-Lenovo Zuk Z1

Any battery-focused smartphones that I missed?

Thanks.

Which 2016 flagship has the best screen on time?

I'm into long shitposting marathons and I need good screen on time for that.

I heard the 6s had good SOT but theres no 4chan app so ehhh

from what ive seen the s7 edge and iphones have the best battery life and SOT, am i wrong?
>>
>>54574170
Redmi Note 3 Pro gets 8 Hours + SOT, best device for longevity imo, using one now, on wifi and 4g mixed use, I get 7 hours 50 mins screen on time, if I just use 4g all day I only get 5 hours, if its just wifi then I can easily go 9-10 hours.

convince me not to pull the trigger on an s7 edge and end my miserable windows phone existence

was considering a 6s(since i still havent used iOS) but once I saw how fucking huge of a screen the s7 has while remaining relativelysmall I thought why not plus all of the excellent reviews. the 6s plus has the same size screen as the s7 edge while being way bigger

the only downside I see is the speaker
>>
>>54574890
I've heard the edge feature is just a gimmick and more troublesome then helpful. S7 might be better

At least in my usecase, I realized that there's really no need for a file manager on a smartphone.

It seems ludicrous, I know, but I just never really missed it past the first week or two of iOS.

You can still save files, they just go to their respective apps. It works more efficiently imo.

no, you don't need a computer afaik. My 6s+ didn't.

Don't pull this crazy shit

Way back when the dual-speaker Z2 was released someone ported something from it into the Z1 so that it can also port sound from both the bigger bottom speaker and the smaller ear speaker top front. Wasn't long before someone reported that the smaller speaker became cracked and tinny after frequent tests
>>
>>54575395
sure, but my standard isn't to expect anything to make me laugh out loud (nothing does that for me). it's amusing and not tedious (we're talking about good episodes here, not the entire season), and that's good enough to play in the background or something while i'm on 4chan, working, whatever.

Galaxy S5, that's about one of the few phones that has both the SD and battery slot as well as huge third party battery packs. >>
>>54575883
It is less secure than a good password, but we will eventually switch to something like this anyway due to convenience and people not using good passwords.

The issue with the fingerprint readers is that your fingerprints are not the same at all times and you thus can't use them as a key, which is something you can do with a password. This means that the actual key has to be stored elsewhere and the said storage will contain all of your keys. Circumventing the software of the fingerprint reader thus grants you access to all linked accounts.

Compare it to something like Lastpass or KeyPass, which also store all your passwords. The difference is that those keys are encrypted with a master key that is known only to you. Again, the finger prints cannot be used as a master key, because unlike the password masterkey, they change at all times. Of course, password managers are still less secure than just memorising all your passwords due to the potential of there being an unknown exploit in the software itself.

(That being said, I still think most people will be a lot safer if they didn't need to memorise any passwords at all and just used fingerprint readers, which in case of failure can only be overridden by the manufacturer itself.)

I can tell that Sony was putting alot of effort in design and I have to admit, they did it well. Though design is a bit old-ish now, it still looks sleek and solid. But what you get in return of beautiful body? Fragility, once you drop it, even from low height, it can crack really easily. Sony's camera is average/above average, but far from superior. Stuff like basic focus is struggling to take sharp shots. Take a look at reviews of Z5's predecessor Z3 which literally had self-cracking screen (reported by users). Oh and I probably don't have to mention they were putting crappy Snapdragon CPUs that were burning the Sony. Now, with the upcoming Xperia X models, they have lost their "glass" premium lookalike and is generally going to be mainstream generic Android.

Are there any other recommendations for replacing my G2?

I only want to listen to music, chat, browse, maybe look up some docs/mails and occasionally take a pic.
So nothing special at all.
Should i get one? If so, which one? Or should i wait for something better? Maybe next gen redmeme?
I don't really need a phone, i'm actually quiet happy with my old C510.. what should i do?

This isn't an iPhone where if you don't update, you're not getting any app updates ever again.
>>
>>54582495
The 3 pro will likely be better for you due to its smaller size and far bigger battery life.
>>
I need a budget phone <$250 that just works well with social media and streaming music (and Clover too is a plus).
I also appreciate Android 6.0 + good battery

Ive been looking at the Nexus 5 or LG G2/3,
>>
>>54582486
Not true at all. 5X and 6P cameras are among the best available on phones.
>>
>>54582495
Redmi 3 is smaller which makes it much easier to carry around and use with one hand and has better battery life while the Note 3 has a larger screen that's better for texting and browsing and better performance for gayming/emulators. So it depends on what suits your needs. Both amazing phones tho.
>>
>>54582563
G3 has official 6.0 but not as good battery as the G2. N5 will be easy to keep updated even after official support ends but has the worst battery life ever, it's genuinely abysmal.
>>
>>54582667
Jesus I don't know what to get.

I'd like more battery but 6.0 is something I've accustomed to for how long its been out

Social apps will kill any phone battery much quicker, just FYI. If you make heavy use of them you can't expect to get stellar battery life.

Refer to >>54580491, my 5x can handle these fine in 2016 (obviously).
How about the G2/G3? I'd like to know if it's possible to use these in 2016 - 2017 with my simple uses.
>>
>>54582956
Yes, future proof yourself. the SD616 is N5 levels, the SD650 is better than SD808.
>>
>>54582956
It is a significant difference, but unnoticeable in every day use.
>>
>>54582956
The 650 is far stronger than the 616, but you will not notice it. I don't believe it's worth it.
>>
>>54582965
I'd say get the G3, the battery life is about the same as the 5X and still performs very well, I only stopped using it because I burnt out the screen with extremely heavy use.
If you can get the 32GB version with 3GB ram then that's even better.

Greetings, /spg/,

fellow poorfriend here.

Looking to upgrade from a cracked screen HTC Desire 510 to either LG G Stylo 2 or Samsung Galaxy J7.

The carrier is Virgin Mobile by the way.

I've heard that Samsung has more bloat software than LG, but is performance much better on J7 than Stylo?

Also, how would these phones compare to the Desire 510?
>>
>>54584280
Or would I be better off going cheaper and getting the J3?

My main concern besides performance is space, as the Desire's meager 4GB was eaten by bloatware.
>>
>>54584272
true, and I was so close to choosing the Nexus 5X until I realized one of its front-facing speakers were fake; no stereo audio. I do admit that phone does look beautiful
>>
Should i get a Wileyfox Swift if I'm a poorfag? I would get the Redmi but I need to have a warranty just in case and I don't trust fucking chinks
>>
Jesus Niggerlicking Christ,
So I finally caved in and bought the Sony Z5 from a 3rd party seller because they were selling the phone NEW for $481, which is the lowest I've seen it.
It's not the US-with-warranty model, but $481 is something different than the $539 that the price has been since February.
Ordered it before noon.
Checking the price as it has become habit... the US one WENT DOWN IN PRICE TO $499.

I was waiting MONTHS for that fucking price to go down.
It goes down THE FUCKING DAY I LOSE MY SHIT AND DECIDE TO BUY THE NO-WARRANTY-INTERNATIONAL ONE.
It's like a fucking game.
It was just waiting for me to cave in so that it could finally change.
FUCK YOU
FUCK YOU
FUCK YOU
>>
>>54583462
That’s a completely different price bracket though. What about the Mi4c and the Z3 and so on?
>>
>>54584524
That's life for you mate, just wait until you start buying actually expensive things and the same happens.

>>54584524
So now that that's off my chest, my question:
Should I cancel the order for the International version for $481 and buy the US (WITH WARRANTY) version for $499?
This would be $499 + 6% sales tax, so really, it'd be $528.94. The difference would be $47.94
I really feel safer with the warranty.
I want to believe that the Z5 is a solid phone, but I'm scared of all the horror stories of self-breaking glass and extreme-overheat-with-daily use bullshit. Like it CAN be a good phone, but there are a lot of lemons out there.
Fuck. FUCK!
>>
>>54584280
If it's they Exynos J7 I'd get that. The J3 likely has better battery life than the other SD410 phones but it's also more expensive and has a weaker camera than the $100 Moto G.
>>
>>54584608
The US version is missing the fingerprint sensor. If you don't care about that then just get the US version with the warranty.
>>
>>54584608
I would pay that for a valid warranty everyday.
However, it's worth noting that Sony don't class the self-breaking glass as their problem. It happened to my Z2 mini whilst on charge, they said there is nothing they could do and refused to admit it was down to their device.

How can one tell if it's an express version for the J7?

Also, Amazon seems to have the J3 up for only $130 vs the LG G Stylo 2 which I can grab for $180 on the virgin mobile website.

The only real differences between the two phones appears to be screen size (5.0" vs 5.7"), ram amount (1.5gb vs 2gb) and Android OS (5.1 vs 6.0).

Is .5gb ram that big of a difference for running apps more smoothly?

Also is 6.0 really all that better than 5.1?
>>
>>54587886
The J3 price is a good deal. It might go down later (during/after summer) but it's still a new phone. 5.0" and amoled will save on battery, and the 0.5gb of ram really doesn't matter during normal use outside of games.
