Pretty sure it's a shill thread, or just circle jerkers.
HOWEVER, mpv is pretty fucking based. Not sure about it on windows yet, I'd have to try it, but on linux there's no question it's the best player.
What are the benefits? Well it has all the shit madvr gives you in mpc built into it by default, it's lightweight, and doesn't run into playback issues mpc/vlc sometimes do.
The only real downside to it is its lack of gui for settings, but you just slap a preset into your mpv.conf and edit the existing input.conf to your liking once and it's fine forever so eh.

I had mpc-hc with madvr but sometimes just dragging the media player to my second monitor would make it freeze and other times it seemed madvr was resource intensive with my cpu/ram etc. so lightweight sounds good to me.
