HDD thread? HDD thread.
what's a good fast and relatively cheap HDD ?
i have the WD Red 3tb in my server but im unsure if it would fit for a gaming pc.

WD Red 3tb is best price/performance if you need a reliable hard drive for storage and don't care about transfer speeds.

I also have the 3 TB WD red.
It filled up pretty quickly from all my movies and weebshit, so I'm considering buying a 4TB one.
WD Re/gold is the best
WD Se and Red Pro also have the 5 year warranty.
Otherwise black.
This is for WD.
HGST Ultrastar He is great. (the other Ultrastars are great too)
HGST NAS is nicer than WD Blue.
Probably equal with Red.
I don't like cheaping out on HDDs ever since capacity has become so cheap.

i'm thinking of buying WD2003FYPS Western Digital Enterprise 2TB.
is it a good buy?

I have no experience with refurbished HDDs
>>54544907
The ebay listing i'm seeing right now says it's gonna be brand new.
anyways, is the model no. worth the money at least?
>>54544972
Get a WD Black or a HGST Ultrastar imo.

okay.
although, the reviews i have been reading online do say RE is just a tad bit better than Black.

Reds are nice, I went with the Greens for basically that criteria plus the fact that they're lower energy so lots of them don't rack up a large power bill. Got 16Tb worth of greens used for long term storage atm.
WD being idiots merging the green line though, what a pain in the ass.

If this is the one you mean
http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-WD2003FYPS-Enterprise-Internal/dp/B00PA1CVNS
It is refurbished.
100% sure

The Re is better.
But I wouldn't get a refurbished HDD.
Especially if it doesn't mention a warranty, or only 1 year.
A new Re should have a 5 year warranty.

okay, thanks, i'll keep these in mind.
How about WD Blue?

Let me guess you are still using MBR partitioning too
> inb4 MBR is more stable than GPT
>>54546057
Well I can't afford 18TB of SSDs
>>54546339
Start using compression and 4tb drives poorfag
>>54542032
I need a fairly large hard drive for a backing up my shit. Should I get an 8tb hdd or two 4tb drives (or four 2 tb drives) and raid them? I'd like it to be external and I want it to be portable.
>>54546361
I have 3 4TB drives in there and a 5TB drive.
Did you even look at the speccy?
