My Elven kit

Trying to decide if I want new mods. I think Elven with the Granite text and icon mods looks too busy so I might get some grey blanks.

Well, it's about how the rubber will stop you from travelling further, but there is still some give if you apply more force. It's this squishing that robs you of a definitive bottom to your keystroke, the presence of which can be quite satisfying.
>>

CTRL on caps is god damned amazing. Seriously, best thing ever. Took me all of 10 minutes to get used to. Delete on \ I can deal with. The part I really don't like is the arrow keys. I wish they were under WASD.

ABS in the industry is pretty well known as being a cheap, soft plastic. It's my theory that the minuscule amount of dirt that is normally on your hands slowly wears down the plastic with time. That amount of dirt acts like a very slow acting polishing wheel.

Royal Kludge, RK61. I think there might have been one by either Noopoo or Varmillo too, but don't quote me on that.
>>
Are those capacitive keyboards that show up on Massdrop now and then any good? I'm not buying a Topre any time soon but I want to try out a different feel than Cherry MX style switches.
>>
>>54387433
I posted earlier in the thread, just got my HHKB today (has Topre switches, for the record). It's hard to say, it has an interesting layout, but an incredible feel. I'm loving it so far, don't know if I'm loving it to the tune of $225, but damn it's good. If you ever get a chance to try one out, I highly recommend it.

The switches have a very different feel to them, and it's incredibly pleasant. Only thing I can say is I wish it had a slightly more defined click sound, but otherwise, it's damn good.
>>
Hi /mkg/ i'm going to get my first mech. How about a ducky one? That's about the only good one i can import without spending too much.
Also cherry mx red or brown? I don't play videogames too much, i'd say it's 85% typing and 15% gaming. Sadly, i have no other choice of switches

>I can't be fucked to make a plate
making a plate is rather easy with this here
http://swillkb.com/

I'm mainly curious about making a PCB.

Will do, I've also thought of using USB C just for the sake of fanciness and the novelty of it.

I'll have to find some elegant solution to connecting the two halves though. I think the easiest would be to just have the matrix arranged like in a regular keyboard and to pretty much just have the cables "jump" from one half to the other with a bunch of cable, or rather, some kind of elegant cable with a fuckton of single cables inside. I'll have to see if there's some kind of data cable that has what I'm looking for.
>>

>I'll have to find some elegant solution to connecting the two halves though.

I was looking at building a dactyl, and someone recomended using pro-micro boards.

The pro-micro boards can link together (he used a TRRS, but a usb c would work too), yet will also function seperately. So you could plug just one half into the computer, both into the computer, or chain them.

>>54390695
I hear it is easier to set up a matrix with (not that TMK is especially hard).

And it has RGB support.

I don't know for sure, but apparently you can just use tmk/qmk on them.

Not sure what type of coding would be needed to link them together though.

If that is too much trouble, the Teensy 2.0 and io expander combo like on the regodox works great.

>>
>>54398555
Turning the brightness down doesn't do too much, but I usually keep at its lowest setting because the highest is just too bright.

The F1 key doubles as FN key to just turn off the backlights, but then you are correct. You do also have to turn num lock on to turn the lights on the arrow keys off.

I personally really like the keyboard itself. I have blues (can't remember what options there were when I bought it) and I like them. I don't fret about the backlights too much since I keep my room dark like my soul.

>>
>>54397523

Are there any animes like pic related where dude just casually takes upskirts and shit bonus if that's his sister
>>
>>54398714
The layout doesn't have a name. You'd need to get a set that supports both ISO and ANSI.
>>
>>54398418
>What did you dislike about it

I disassembled the thing just to take a look at it, these are my gripes:

>non-standard bottom row even though the PCB allows for it
>thin metal plate (flexes if you have it on the stand-offs and press down on it)
>flimsy plastic case

Also, the spacebar stabilizers were a wobbly piece of shit and the OEM is known for dead LEDs (though that's probably not something you'd be worried about).

The layout is really cool, but the bottom row is my largest grip, the PCB even allows for a standard one and there's no good reason to use a non-standard one.
>>
>>54398714
If you can find a set that has both ISO and ANSI modifiers available, that's be what you're looking for.

Though I'd just get a new keyboard with a sensible layout.
>>
>>54398742
I guess on the bright side, the keyboard is pretty cheap and readily available. If other keyboards had a similar layout I'd check them out.
>>
>>54398909
I'd just build something like that myself if I wanted a layout like that. I think something that I'd add is a modifier key that you can just hold in order to activate the arrow keys that goes back to the numpad on release. Like that you don't have to press numlock every time you want to switch, would make you the office shark when it comes to crunching data with Excel.

Though I can understand that most people can't be bothered to build something like that when quite a similar product already exists.
>>
