I thought you wanted a calculator thread

I can tell you have never used a high end HP in place of a Casio or TI.

Try it man, HP50gs are cheap second hand and great to start with.

If you have money get a good one. I hardly program mine, I just like using a high-quality calculator when I'm checking results.

But while I appreciate some TI products like Derive, Casios are fucking shit full stop

Not here in the EU!

I had to pay somewhere around 100 euro, and insisted on getting a HP Prime along with it because I wanted the sexy new one with the colour screen.

Oh the joys of free education, government grants and scholarships

>tfw no fabric case with the HP Prime though

well it's not actually that big and the full keyboard is very useful.
they let me use mine in exams at structural analysis in college, so i just wrote the complete content, programed the procedures and cheated the shit out of it with this bad boy
only cost me $100 used

took me 3 years and 6 finals to pass though

>tfw you are used to the matrix and integral comfy of your Nspire + the 100 bucks spent on it so can't switch to RPN.

This shit cant really be better at matrices.

Wow look you can multiply some numbers so fast...
If you're doing any advanced math, you're doing it on a computer, it can't graph, so ymwhy even own it? Any 4 function calculator would work just as well.
>>
>>54369681

What makes a calculator decent? I have a TI89 Titanium and it's be serving me very well through my engineering classes but I've heard (from here and elsewhere) that the HP 50g is better for engineering. What exactly makes it better? Does it have more useful inbuilt functions or a more extensive function database?
>>
>>54369825
Yeah I should've said practically any model
>>
>>54369842
This is an arch Linux equivalent thread. Functionally worse, but loved by autists to feel superior to people because RPN hasn't been taught in the civilized world for decades.

FUCK firefox, I just wrote something on the beauty of RPN and now it's gone. I'll summarize: Everything is an object on the stack: numbers, programs, images, lists, matrices, whatever. Instead of being divided into apps like a TI calculator, HP calculators have all their user interaction done through the stack. If you want to have a quick one-off program, it's easy because there's no need to open up the programming "app" and write in the overly-verbose language TI-basic. You can just write a quick program on the stack, and then execute it, apply it to the elements of a list, embed it into another program, store it, or even feed it as an argument to another program. That's the beauty of it!
>>
Does the 35s only come with 4 stack levels?
>>
What calculator runs linux?
>>
>>54371211
i don't understand why you would want to run a desktop kernel on a pocket calculator
there's a reason why full color handheld programmable calculators never took off, you can just use a laptop.
>>
>>54371426
you can just use a laptop as a better calculator
