Recommend me a free/gratis Windows program that backs up files from one folder to another (basically "matching" them), if something is deleted on one end, it's also deleted on the other end.

Even better if it was encrypted, but not necessary.

I don't need incremental backups or shit like that. I just want a more or less recent backup in case my hard drive dies.

I tried a new set of drivers, and none of them changed anything. They only crash when I start up a game, and they crash immediately when the game launches. I have now used DDU to reinstall the most up-to-date drivers.

Any other alternative ways I can go about diagnosing this? My motherboard BIOS drivers are also up-to-date, and I am using Windows 10.

The best way of learning programming is by actually programming, so just make sure whatever you choose has you spending a lot of your time doing so.

As far as which is better, there are good courses and books out there, either option can work really. Also depending on your language of choice it can also be good to check out the official documentation for it whenever you are confused, often has good explanations for things.

I.... what?

I have an external HDD. I formatted it on my Mac to 200GB HFS+ for time machine, left the rest (500GB) to exFAT for portable shit.

On my Windows PC I reformatted the 500GB exFAT to 100GB NTFS and 400GB blank.

If I put it back to my Mac, it says 200GB HFS+ and 500GB exFAT as if nothing happened?

Now I thought Windows might just not have saved the settings or whatever, so I plug it back to Windows and voila, the 100GB NTFS partition shows up, but nothing exFAT (and obviously nothing HFS+ but that is out of the question).

W-what kind of trickery is this?

I ran some compressed air through one of the vent and some dust came out but the noise still continues. The laptop works ok and there's no overheating.

I'm guessing the fan bearing is wearing out. Find a service manual and have replacement stuff ready before trying to open it. Laptops are put together counter-intuitively so you can't just guess how it comes apart. Maybe look in bios/uefi and Power Options to see if you can make the fan run less. It may be part of a botnet if it's always noisy. Installing GNU/Linux can fix that.

I'm not sure if I should be posting this in /g/ or /mu/ but whatever

I'm looking for magnetically shielded speakers so I can set them next to my CRT display. The problem is that many people usually don't set their speakers next to anything that is actually in danger of being damaged by their speakers, so speakers that say they are magnetically shielded either a) are so poorly shielded that it doesn't seem to make much of a difference or b) are not shielded at all.

So how the fuck do I found a decent pair of satellite speakers that are actually magnetically shielded that I can set next to my CRT?

Dear /sqt/.

What could cause one of my svchosts constantly using whole single core of my CPU on Windows 7?

I noticed it since like week or two - sometimes, usually once per day, for few hours svchost related with net services, start using constant 25% of CPU power.

Here is screenshoot from manager + services related with this process.

My CPU gets pretty loud from that and I just want to know, what it could be doing all the time.

Thank you for replies, like always.

So I'm really interested in getting an acer predator 35/34 inch ultrawide. Currently I'm running 1080 but after seeing them in person I really want to bite the bullet (also I'm running 980's in SLI so, yeah, not really pushing them that hard).

My question is, is ultrawide just a dankmeme? I mean 1200 bucks for 34 inches seems ridiculous, and does gsync even make a difference or is it marketing fluff?

Would I be better off just buying a 40+ inch 4k tv, tossing it on a vesa mount, and gaming on that?

Pic unrelated but was the first case I fell in love with that made me want to get int PC building (still never bought one ;~;)

Anon said I should post in here:

I'm working on a stage setup for a band and one of the things they want is for all of their computers to be off stage but still be controlled by USB devices.

I'm looking at the USB over ethernet devices.

Has anyone used them? Are they solid?
How would they cope with with the usb switch changing the connected computer?
Would the USB monitors work?
Any chances of dropped/delayed information from devices?

Any alternatives?

Trying to make a VBA script for work that, when I select several entries from a listbox userform, it appends specific attachment(s) to the email. I know that I'm gonna need a loop for it and I'm curious if I can put it within the loop that cycles through the listbox and builds part of the email in Outlook.

For i = 0 To ListBox1.ListCount - 1
If ListBox1.Selected(i) Then
Counter = Counter + 1
msg = msg & "<font style = 'background: yellow'>" & ListBox1.List(i) & "<br />"
Else: If Counter = 0 Then msg = msg & “nothing”
End If
Next

e.g., if my listbox consists of 4 different entries - example, "excuse me, but i'd like, to interject, for a moment" - I want to have VBA grab two specific attachments if I select "excuse me" and "to interject" and attach 'em to the email.

Firstly, don't access your POST values directly. Use filter_input() and filter_input_array() instead.

$name = filter_input(INPUT_POST, 'name', FILTER_SANITIZE_MAGIC_QUOTES);
$image = filter_input(INPUT_POST, 'image', FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING);

or
$postData = filter_input_array(INPUT_POST, array(
'name' => FILTER_SANITIZE_MAGIC_QUOTES,
'image' => FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING,
));

You use $_FILES to get any files that have been submitted with your form. I dunno if you can use filter_input with that yet, though.

It's been a while since i PHPed, but I hope this at least gets you looking in the right direction.

Also, I think you need to include an enctype in your html form.

Hey really quick stupid question here, I've tried youtube and google and all I get results of people doing similar setups to mine, but I can't find anything regarding fitting a PSU in this case.

I have a dell optiplex 380 here, doing a intel quad core server cpu at 3.16 (x5460), gtx 750ti, 8gb ddr3, and I had trouble running it, I'm thinking the stock 255 Peak psu is the issue. i want to buy a cx430 but don't know if it will fit in this case or not.

Do you think a cx430 would fit in the upper right hand of this case as shown in pic?

Also do you think an Evo 212 would fit here as well? I figure since nearly every single part in here is new I might as well do away the stock heatsink.

Hey, I'm looking into updating my storage capacity, as I'm using the seagate 250gb out of my 2006 HP, and two other seagate 250gb from elsewhere. I have selected the Samsung 850 evo in either 120 or 240.

My next question is the hdd. Which should I get? I was looking at 1tb minimum with at least 2tb hopefully. I'm trying to stay under 100 on each of these. Is wd black still the tip tier? There's a Toshiba 2tb on neweggs email for 60-70 bucks. Is that well enough off? I know seagate has bad reliability. I had to pull everything off of one of my 4 seagate 250s as it started fucking up. 25% fail rate in my personal experience.

Pls halp droo/g/s.

What am I doing wrong? I mean the description in the size limit field even says it will cut off the end to fit it in.

If I need to enter a bitrate also, am I really supposed to calculate the optimal bitrate for the duration and dimensions of the WEBM? I thought leaving it blank was supposed to calculate that for me (ala the description)?

I know fuckall about PSUs so bear with me.

I got a Corsair VS550 as a replacement because it's affordable and I'm going to change the whole system in less than 5 years (has 3 year warranty).

A friend of mine insists that "while it's not fire hazard" it's still shitty, it could fuck my PC in the long run and I should change it within 2016.

Thing is, it's powering a humble PC with a 650ti and an A10 APU and I'm not even maxing out the GPU. That PC probably draws ~350 watts while gaming (it can draw 400W full load), which is way less than VS550's 500W of "continuous power". But the PC is on for ~12 hrs per day.

So what should I do? Should I replace it or let it be?

Hey /g/,

About a month ago on my Windows 10 laptop a few programs suddenly could not open. When I click on their icons they appear in the task manager for about 5 seconds then disappear. I noticed that this happens with last.fm scrobbler, qBittorrent, and VLC. I was able to open them every few startups after this started happening, but recently they never work.

I tried reinstalling them and running ccleaner and stuff but they aren't working and I can't find any solutions online.Could it possibly be because my harddrive is 95% full, even though they worked before when it was that full? No idea what is causing it.

Thanks for any help

For the same reason some Windows programs have installers and some are just single item .EXE applications.

An application may need confirmation of where it's going to store its files, or it may need certain configuration options chosen by the user, rather than just assuming default settings.

OSX launchpad problem:

I run a freshly installed OSX El Capitan on my MBP and the launchpad appears to be dead. Meaning it normally should add everything in terms of folders and/or .app files in the [Applications] folder. But mine just stopped adding new stuff, if I now install for example Python, then everything that is added to the [Applications] folder won't show up in the launchpad, it's not that it's frozen (I can still click on the programs that it shows), but it won't add new stuff and it also won't let me rename folders. Totally weird, anyone experienced with that?

/g/ help

I have a pair of Jam transit audio ear buds. Why does the audio sound like its coming thru a telephone line like im listening to waiting music calling a call center?
They were fine last week and now this. I don't know what to do. I've called Jam, I've gone thru all the settings, I don't know what to really google.

If you dont get the idea of what it sounds like, it's like 24kbs. It sounds like shit. My mom doesn't think it sounds different. I think if she heard it she would know (They are hers)

If I have two adapters and one that has INPUT of 100-240V-2A 50/60hz and an OUTPUT of 19.5V to 7.9A
While the other one has the same INPUT but it's OUTPUT is 18.5V to 6.5A would it be ok to use it for my other computer?

Also one seems to show the watts next to the OUTPUT at 120W while the other one doesn't.
There also seems to be a symbol next to them going from positive to negative except the other seems to show negative to positive, I'm not sure if these things are relevant though. I just want to know if I can use the lower OUTPUT one on my other computer.
>>
Update:
The buds do work fine, HOWEVER they sound like the 24kbs on on my mom's phone but not my tablet. I cleared the cache partition on her phone in hopes that may help.
>>
>>54363210
Well if you were doing a ton of things the battery would drain faster. If it wasn't charging that wasn't helping either. Things to keep in mind if you do replace the charger and it doesn't work it might be the battery or the charging port on the laptop.

I read this as a child, it covers everything from ceasar shifts to enigma and more in a simple, fun way. Shit, I remember it and am recommending it probably 13 years later.

Kind of related, you can read win8 key from bios using RW Everything for example, but on laptops with recovery partition does the recovery hold a different key? I've heard that before.

Supposedly if i were to erase hdd completely and use that key i've read, to install fresh win with, it would not be completely legal, because the system i'm entitled to is signed with a key from recovery partition.
Might be load of bs

With Hearthstone it's not like that. You play with what you get, git gud then buy packs with the money you earn from the game. You can buy packs if you want but earning them also works if you're good. But you have to play against people

as for Com2us, they are more in the game, you only connect to the internet for chat and updates

btrfs can do weird raid setups using all the space if you're willing to accept bugs and shit

you could also use zfs with copies=2 if you understand the implications

you could raid5 the first TB or few of each drive and raid0 the rest for a balance

personally i'd probably go for just having separate drives, manually copying backups of what's most important

Are they still doing paid DLC for basic functionality? They did in the past with some of their media players.

no good man don't do it.
the second has different voltage. it might be within the margin of error but it gives even less amps. it might've been safe if it gave more amps.
i can't recommend you try it

I use to be big with the Pocket Dish. It was an amazing idea till Hollywood got their panties in a wad and complained that we were taking money away from them even tho, they still got paid for it for being on the air. There's no more issue here than pirating.

Read what voltage does your laptop actually need.
Power supply can have a bit larger amperage, not voltage.
Smaller values and it won't turn on/ battery will not load.
W is V times A

Laptop needs 19V

Old adapter:
OUTPUT of 19.5V to 7.9A
Watts (after googling and doing the math suggested to double check) 150W

New adapter:
OUTPUT is 18.5V to 6.5A
120W

both have the same polarity tip it's just that one had an upside down C which confused me but it just means the same thing. Both also have the same INPUT.

So is it still safe to use? I don't want to use it for long term, I just want to check to see that it actually turns on and it's not the motherboard fucking up.

Just get an i7-6700k and call it a day. You can rationalize it later by consider the fact that it was too fucking late.
